Joe Rogan seemed shocked to hear Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb claim that some experts are intentionally suppressing conversations about potential alien technology linked to the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS.
3I/ATLAS is just the third interstellar object ever detected in our solar system. What makes it unusual is that, instead of behaving like a normal comet, it glows strangely, spins very quickly, and might even produce its own light. Although NASA classifies it as a comet, one scientist, Loeb, thinks there’s a significant possibility – around 40% – that it could actually be a piece of artificial technology.
Loeb and Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna have both suggested that if the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is a spacecraft, it might release smaller probes to study Earth. Loeb has also pointed out that international organizations aren’t prepared for potential contact with extraterrestrial life, and he’s called on the United Nations to address this issue with greater urgency.
On October 28th, while appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Harvard professor Avi Loeb discussed his belief that serious consideration of alien technology is being discouraged. He described how, shortly after the discovery of the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS, he was captivated by its size – significantly larger than the first interstellar visitor ever detected, ‘Oumuamua. He was so intrigued that he started writing a research paper while still on vacation with his wife.
Joe Rogan slams “ignorant” scientists for hindering alien tech discussions
Loeb wondered if the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS could have been created by an intelligent alien civilization, considering its unusual path and dimensions.
Loeb also explained that there isn’t enough rocky debris in space to bring a large object like this into our solar system within ten years. Even under the most favorable conditions, such an event would only happen roughly once every 10,000 years.

According to Loeb, the editor of the journal rejected his research paper unless he deleted a sentence. This sentence proposed the object’s path indicated it might have intentionally been aimed towards the center of our solar system.
According to Loeb, the editor told him the research paper was good, except for a final sentence suggesting the object might originate from within our solar system. Loeb pointed out that the object’s path closely matched the plane of the planets orbiting the Sun, differing by only 5 degrees – a statistically unlikely occurrence with odds of about one in 500.
Loeb suggested that if the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS were a spacecraft, its trajectory would be perfect for scouting. It’s traveling in an unusual direction – against the orbits of the planets – which would allow it to deploy small probes towards them. Crucially, it passes behind the Sun from Earth’s perspective, creating an opportunity for a spacecraft to use the Sun’s gravity to change course and reach its destinations.
These findings suggest the possibility that an intelligent force guided its path.

As a big fan of Professor Loeb’s work, I was really struck by what he said about getting his paper published. Apparently, his editor made him take out anything about intelligent design before it could even be considered. It’s frustrating because now, when you hear experts dismiss certain comet claims as not being in a peer-reviewed journal, it turns out they’re often the very people who blocked the discussion in the first place! He thinks that’s totally wrong, especially when we’re talking about the possibility of alien technology. He argues it could be a hugely important discovery – a real ‘Black Swan’ event – that could change everything for humanity, and we shouldn’t shut down the conversation.
Rogan strongly criticized the editors, labeling them as arrogant for stifling open discussion about whether the object could be artificial in origin.
Even though groups like NASA have doubts, some organizations are heeding Abraham Loeb’s concerns about potential interstellar threats. For the first time, the International Asteroid Warning Network – backed by the UN – is officially tracking an object that came from outside our solar system, 3I/ATLAS, as part of its efforts to protect Earth from dangerous objects in space.
