$35,000 worth of salsa dips stolen in “unusual” truck heist

Thieves stole over $35,000 worth of salsa and dips in a daring truck theft in Ontario, Canada, and police haven’t been able to find the stolen goods yet.

It’s really frustrating when you go to a store or restaurant and they’re out of the sauce you like. This happens surprisingly often at fast food places like McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A, too.

Sometimes things just don’t work out, and you need to try again later. But people in Essex County, Ontario, Canada who recently ordered salsa and dip have experienced a particularly long wait.

Around the end of September, thieves stole two large trucks from a parking lot on a side street. One of the trucks was carrying over $35,000 worth of salsa and sauce.

Salsa heist is latest truck robbery in Ontario

Police say the transport truck was found back at the site, but it was damaged and its trailer – along with the expensive goods inside – was gone.

A robbery happened on September 27th, and another one followed later that same day. Similar to the previous salsa theft, the stolen truck was found two days after the incident.

The stolen trailer and its contents haven’t been recovered yet, and the police are asking for the public’s help. They’re offering a $2000 reward for information leading to their recovery.

According to local news, this isn’t the first time trucks have been stolen in town recently. There have been several similar incidents, with thieves also targeting expensive alcohol and meat.

I was reading about these recent thefts, and security expert Chris Lewis explained that thieves are going for things that are easy to resell. But honestly, the part about the salsa being stolen is weird – he said it’s actually pretty hard to get rid of, so that part doesn’t really make sense!

Lewis explained to CTV that everything has the potential to be stolen and sold, but some items are simply more valuable and easier to distribute than others – like salsa.
