3 Surprise Characters In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Sets Up This Forgotten Villain

A key villain from a Super Mario game might appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The latest trailer for the film hinted at several things to come in the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and finally confirmed that Yoshi will be part of Mario and Luigi’s next journey.

While Yoshi’s appearance stole the show in the trailer, there’s plenty more to get excited about. The movie will also include Birdo, the familiar pink dinosaur from games like Mario Tennis and Mario Kart. Plus, keep an eye out for Clawgrip and Mouser, two lesser-known characters from the Mario universe.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Has Major Super Mario Bros. 2 Connections

The new trailer shows Princess Peach battling Birdo, and she’s getting help from some returning characters. Alongside Peach, defending against Birdo’s attacks, is Mouser, a mouse known from older Super Mario games who’s sporting sunglasses. Behind them is a crab flipped on its back, which seems to be Clawgrip, a villain Mario has faced before.

Birdo, Mouser, and Clawgrip all appear in the 1988 Nintendo game, Super Mario Bros. 2. In this game, Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach journey through a dream world called Subcon, where they face off against the main villain, a lizard king named Wart.

As a huge Mario fan, I was so excited to see Wart’s army! He called them “The 8-Bits,” and it was a really cool mix of familiar baddies and some brand new faces. I remember being surprised to see Birdo, Mouser, and Clawgrip all fighting alongside Wart – they definitely made his crew unique!

Will Wart Appear In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

While Birdo’s appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie doesn’t reveal much on its own, the inclusion of three bosses from Super Mario Bros. 2 suggests that game’s story will play a significant role in the film. If so, this could also hint at who the movie’s villain will be.

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about where this new Mario movie could go, and it seems like if Princess Peach winds up in a world resembling Subcon from the old games, we might see Wart show up. He could be a really interesting secondary villain, not just for Peach, but maybe even for Mario and Luigi if they get caught up in that storyline. It’s a cool possibility that could add a lot of depth!

The Super Mario series doesn’t have many well-known villains besides Bowser and his relatives. Including Wart in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie would be a refreshing change and a great way to showcase a character who hasn’t been used much before.
