HBO Max has a ton of popular new shows perfect for a weekend binge. Whether you’re looking for hilarious comedies starring big names or a thrilling, lesser-known series that’s quickly becoming a favorite, HBO Max has the best streaming options for you this weekend.
Even though Netflix and Prime Video have some excellent shows, HBO Max remains a top choice for high-quality streaming. This weekend, April 3–5, 2026, they have a fantastic lineup, with something for everyone – from funny and edgy comedies to heartwarming dramas and thrilling mysteries. These are the shows everyone will be talking about on HBO Max.
DTF St. Louis
Currently, “DTF St. Louis” is a hit on HBO Max, ranking as the second most-watched show in the U.S. and third globally. The series boasts a talented cast including Jason Bateman, David Harbour, and Linda Cardellini, and blends dark humor with crime elements. With six of its seven episodes released, the show will air its next installment this Sunday, leading up to the season finale on April 12th.
If you haven’t checked out DTF St. Louis yet, now’s the perfect time! A bunch of the first season’s episodes are available for a weekend marathon. It’s a really compelling story about a possible murder and a messy love triangle involving some bored folks in the suburbs. The show stars Jason Bateman as Clark, a local weatherman, who introduces his buddy Floyd (played by David Harbour) to this dating app for married people, DTF St. Louis. It’s gotten great reviews – an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes – and honestly, it’s a must-see on HBO Max right now.
Rooster
HBO Max is currently releasing new episodes of Rooster, a hilarious comedy featuring a talented cast. While it’s funny, its comedic style is distinct from DTF St. Louis. The series comes from Bill Lawrence, the co-creator of popular shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking. Rooster is quickly becoming a streaming favorite, currently ranking as the #2 show globally and #3 in the U.S.
Starring Steve Carell—best known for his role in The Office—Rooster tells the story of Greg Russo, a divorced author whose famous detective book series shares the show’s name. When Greg takes a short-term speaking job at a New England college, he learns his daughter, Katie, is going through a difficult time with her husband. He ends up staying on as a professor to help her. If you enjoy heartwarming and funny shows, don’t miss Rooster; the fifth episode of the ten-episode season will be available this Sunday.
Privileges
If you’re looking for a new thriller, check out Privileges on HBO Max. This 3-part French series is a hidden gem that hasn’t gotten much attention since it premiered on March 27, 2026. The second episode is now available, and the final episode will be released on April 10th.
Privileges centers around Adele, an inmate who gets a chance to work as a bellhop at a fancy hotel through a program that allows prisoners temporary release. What seems like a great opportunity quickly reveals a hidden world of secrets and dangerous people within the hotel. The show hasn’t yet cracked the top 10 on HBO Max globally since its release, making it a surprisingly good find – especially if you enjoy suspenseful and mysterious thrillers – and worth checking out this weekend.
