Even though it’s only February, it’s going to be tough for any other movie to top 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple as the year’s best horror thriller. This sequel, set after the apocalypse with zombies, is both scary and thoughtful, and it’s been praised by both critics and audiences. Now, fans can watch the newest 28 Years Later film at home.
You can now rent or buy 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple online. This film continues the story from the 2025 movie 28 Years Later, but this time centers on Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) and his patient, Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry), as Dr. Kelson tries to find a cure for the virus that causes the infected. Jack O’Connell plays Jimmy Crystal, the leader of a dangerous cult, and his violent followers. While the movie is filled with dark and frightening moments, it’s ultimately a hopeful story about the strength of humanity, particularly shown through Samson’s recovery. The cast and crew discuss this in a behind-the-scenes clip, available to watch below.
Following its digital debut this week, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is also headed to physical on Apr. 21. In addition to a Blu-ray/ DVD edition, it’s going to receive a 4K UHD Steelbook, which features Dr. Kelson holding onto a fractured skull (it looks badass). Of course, the home edition of the film has all the features audiences have come to expect, including commentary from director Nia DaCosta, a deleted scene, bloopers, and much more. The film’s cast also features Emma Laird, Sam Locke, Robert Rhodes, Ghazi Al Ruffai, Maura Bird, Connor Newall, Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Mirren Mack, and David Sterne. Read the official plot synopsis:
Nia DaCosta’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple builds on the world established in Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s 28 Years Later, but takes the story in a surprising new direction. The film follows Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) as he enters a startling partnership with unforeseen global implications, and shows Spike (Alfie Williams) caught in a terrifying ordeal with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) that he can’t seem to escape.
I’m really hooked on this series called The Bone Temple, and honestly, it’s not the infected monsters that scare me the most. It’s the stuff people do to each other when everything falls apart – that’s the truly terrifying part. It’s like the survivors can be even more dangerous than the creatures they’re trying to escape.
Everything We Know About ’28 Years Later 3′
