2025 Batman Movie Streams on HBO Max Starting Today

A new Batman movie is now available to stream on HBO Max.

There are already tons of Batman movies, shows, and comics, but Warner Bros. Home Entertainment released a new animated film featuring a different version of the character this past September.

What Batman movie is now streaming on HBO Max?

Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires is now available to stream on the HBO Max streaming service.

This new take on the Batman story is set in the Aztec empire. After a young Aztec boy’s father is killed by Spanish explorers, he flees to the city of Tenochtitlán. He begins training at the temple of Tzinacan, the bat god, learning to create weapons and prepare for revenge. During his journey, he meets characters like Jaguar Woman and the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés.

Juan Meza-León directed “Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires,” which features Horacio García Rojas as the voice of Yohualli Coatl/Batman, Omar Chaparro as Yoka/Joker, Álvaro Morte as Hernán Cortés/Two-Face, and other talented actors.

According to Coming Soon Editor-in-Chief Tyler Treese, a highlight of the 4K release of Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires is how it creatively mixes Aztec culture and historical figures with Batman characters. He points out that Hernán Cortés, the Spanish conquistador, is reimagined as Two-Face, and the film features unique takes on other DC characters like Azrael, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and the Joker.

The new Batman story is unfortunately the weakest part of the collection. The character, Yohualli Coatl, doesn’t demonstrate any detective skills, and we don’t see much internal struggle. The ending hints at a continuation, but feels unresolved, so hopefully those aspects will be developed further in a future installment. Despite its flaws, it’s good that DC attempted a fresh approach.
