Each new year brings a fresh wave of exciting movies. From the latest works by acclaimed directors to new films starring beloved actors, and the continuation of popular series, there’s always a lot to look forward to – and 2026 will be no exception.
Many exciting films are scheduled for release throughout 2026. Instead of listing them all, here’s a look at 20 of the most anticipated movies coming out that year.
20. The Devil Wears Prada 2

As a huge fan of the original, I’m thrilled to hear that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is actually happening! It’s been 20 years, and thankfully, almost everyone we loved from the first movie is returning. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all back, which is amazing. Plus, they’ve added some fantastic new faces like Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, and Lucy Liu. Best of all, David Frankel is directing again, and Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the script, so it feels like they’re really capturing the spirit of the original.
As a total movie buff, I’m thrilled to hear The Devil Wears Prada 2 is hitting theaters on May 1st! Seriously, getting to see Miranda Priestly, Andy, Emily, and Nigel back on screen feels like a huge event, and it’s kicking off the summer movie season in a big way.
19. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come
Searchlight Pictures is expanding its popular horror film, Ready or Not, into a franchise, with the sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, planned for release in 2026. Samara Weaving will return as Grace, and she’ll be joined by Kathryn Newton, another well-known actress from the horror genre. The directing team behind the recent vampire hit Abigail – which had ties to the first Ready or Not film – is also back for the sequel.
Fans will finally see Hugo Weaving and Samara Weaving share the screen in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which releases in theaters on March 27th. Hopefully, this won’t be their last project together!

M. Night Shyamalan is known for creating movies that people talk about, and his latest project is generating buzz. After his recent film, Trap, didn’t get as much attention, Shyamalan is back with Remain, a romantic thriller with a supernatural twist. He developed the story idea with Nicholas Sparks, and the film will star Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor. Details about the plot are still scarce, but audiences can expect Shyamalan to deliver some unexpected turns.
The movie Remain comes out on October 23rd, distributed by Warner Bros., and I plan to see it as soon as it’s released.
17. Send Help
With director Sam Raimi and stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien involved, Send Help is a must-see. The film is especially interesting because it marks Raimi’s return to horror, and features a thrilling story about two people stranded on a deserted island. Early looks at the movie are fantastic, showcasing a fierce struggle for survival between McAdams and O’Brien’s characters.
I’m really excited because “Send Help” is coming out soon! 20th Century is releasing it in theaters on January 30th, which is great – we won’t have to wait long to see it.
16. The Mandalorian and Grogu
After a seven-year hiatus, Lucasfilm is returning to theatrical Star Wars films in 2026. The new movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, will be directed by Jon Favreau, building on the popularity of the Disney+ series. This adventure continues the story of Din Djarin and Grogu, and will introduce a new threat connected to Jabba the Hutt, potentially bringing a major success to the Star Wars franchise.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released in theaters on May 22nd. Disney and Lucasfilm are hoping the film will be a big success and attract large audiences throughout the summer.
15. The Dog Stars

Jacob Elordi has two exciting film projects coming up. He’ll star in a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights in early 2026, and later that year, he’ll lead Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars. This science fiction movie, based on Peter Heller’s novel, follows Elordi and Josh Brolin as they navigate a world devastated by a dangerous virus. Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, and Benedict Wong also star in the film.
20th Century Studios has pushed back the release of The Dog Stars from March to August 28th.
14. The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew
Greta Gerwig’s long-awaited reboot of The Chronicles of Narnia, a Netflix project, is set to begin in 2026. She’s directing a film based on The Magician’s Nephew, starring Emma Mackey as the White Witch. Rumors suggest Meryl Streep will voice Aslan, and the cast also includes Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Denise Gough in supporting roles.
Fans can see The Magician’s Nephew in select IMAX theaters starting November 26th. It will then be available to stream on Netflix around Christmas time.
13. Resident Evil
Zach Cregger has quickly become a standout horror director with films like Barbarian and Weapons. His new project, a Resident Evil movie, is generating a lot of buzz. While it’s not based on any one particular game, it will tell a fresh story starring Austin Abrams and Paul Walter Hauser. Fans can anticipate a truly frightening experience, and the film is set to be more ambitious in scope than anything Cregger has done previously.
Sony will release the movie Resident Evil in cinemas on September 18th. This launch is strategically timed, as fewer major new films are being released then, giving Resident Evil a good opportunity to become a big success.
12. Supergirl
2025 was a big year for DC Studios, starting with the release of Superman which kicked off the new DC Universe. The film included a glimpse of Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock, hinting at what’s coming next. The next movie will focus on Supergirl, directed by Craig Gillespie, and is inspired by Tom King’s comic book, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Milly Alcock will reprise her role, and the film will also feature Jason Momoa as Lobo, David Corenswet as Superman, and Krypto the Superdog.
Supergirl will fly high in the summer, with DC and Warner Bros. giving it a June 26 release date.
11. The Adventures Of Cliff Booth
So, I was really excited about what was supposed to be Quentin Tarantino’s last movie – a spin-off/sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood focusing on Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth. But sadly, Tarantino isn’t directing it anymore. David Fincher’s taking the reins now, which, honestly, is still pretty awesome. It’s called The Adventures of Cliff Booth and is slated for 2026. Brad Pitt isn’t coming back, and it looks like none of the other original cast are either. The new cast is shaping up to be great though, with names like Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Holt McCallany, and Timothy Olyphant all signed on.
Netflix hasn’t announced a specific release date for The Adventures of Cliff Booth yet, but it’s expected to premiere in 2026, possibly later in the year.
