2 Popular X-Men Heroes Become Monsters, New X-Force Forms

The recent ‘Age of Revelation’ event has dramatically altered the lives of the X-Men. For two Marvel heroes, these changes have been terrifying, turning them into monstrous beings. The event has also resulted in the creation of a brand new and frightening X-Force team.

These changes are being caused by a dangerous outbreak called the X-Virus. Created by the Mutant leader Revelation, it’s been falsely attributed to an anti-Mutant group called 3K. The virus either kills people or causes them to mutate. While often deadly, it can also amplify or change the powers of Mutants and other superpowered individuals. Unfortunately, for two members of the X-Men, the virus has a devastating effect, turning them into monstrous versions of their former selves.

What Marvel heroes have become monsters?

For Wade Wilson, the X-Virus caused a split in his unstable mind. While his basic bodily functions and reflexes continued, his subconscious largely shut down, and he felt constant hunger. Though still aware, he lost control over his body, essentially turning him into a zombie-like being.

In Undeadpool #1, Tim Seeley and Carlos Magno present a gruesome turn for Deadpool. The story centers on Wade accidentally killing and eating a group of young, aspiring superheroes who were hiding from a dangerous organization called Revelation. They happened to be at the same summer camp as him, leading to a particularly unsettling adventure where Undeadpool cracks slasher-film jokes despite being reduced to grunts like Jason Voorhees.

Just like a classic horror film, the comic ends with a surprising reveal. It turns out the new Undeadpool didn’t just kill the young, aspiring X-Men because he was hungry – he had a deeper motive. The story also shows that Cable was affected by the X-Virus in a terrible way.

Cable was severely weakened by the X-Virus, allowing the techno-organic virus inside him to take complete control. Now, he’s a fractured individual, retaining fragments of his former self, Nathan Summers, but ultimately devoted to the Technarchy. He’s attempting to infect other mutants, believing he’s guiding them and forging a new X-Force. This has created a conflict with his former allies, as both he and they have become, in essence, a type of zombie.

Undeadpool #1 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
