1991 PC-9801 release of Rune Worth 2 gets ported to Nintendo Switch via EGG Console

D4 Enterprise is bringing the classic 1991 PC-9801 version of Rune Worth 2 to the Nintendo Switch. The game will be available digitally on eShops around the world, including in the US, for $7.16.

This new version of the game follows the first one, which was released last May. However, the third and final game in the Rune Worth series is still coming. Currently, D4 Enterprise has only released a Windows version of the original PC-9801 release of Rune Worth 3.

Below you’ll find the official trailer, screenshots, and details about the Rune Worth 2 port. Please note that while the descriptions are in English, the game itself will only be available in Japanese.

Rune Worth existed at the very beginning, a place where everything was created, lived, and eventually ended—even the gods. When the supreme god Iathyls arrived, the world was silent and empty, only Rune Worth itself existed.

Iathyls immediately began creating other gods. He fashioned Femeru, the god of Wind, from his forehead; Quintat, the god of Water, from his palm; Genpadar, the god of Earth, from his chest; and Jaygam, the god of Fire—these four became known as the Holy Heavens. Then, facing east, he created the Eight Holy Palace Gods, one after another.

Released in 1991 by T&E SOFT, this game is a classic action role-playing adventure. You play as Leen Kashua in a world where the power of the gods is slowly disappearing.

The game is viewed from above and takes you on a journey through towns and dangerous dungeons on a sprawling map. The world operates on its own unique timeline, with days lasting 32 hours and years having 16 months.

Many players praise the game’s mature story and serious tone. Unlike some other RPGs, it avoids humor and quirky characters, creating a deeply immersive and understated narrative. If you’re looking for a truly serious fantasy experience, this game is highly recommended. It’s also part of a three-game series, so consider playing all three for the full story.
