D4 Enterprise is slowly rolling out a Nintendo Switch version of Mugen no Shinzou III (also known as Heart of Dreams III), originally released on the PC-8801mkIISR in 1990. It will be available for $6.49 on the Nintendo eShop in the US and other stores around the world.
With this release, the entire Mugen no Shinzou / Heart of Dreams trilogy is now available on the Nintendo Switch. D4 Enterprise had already brought the first and second games to the platform in June and November of last year, respectively.
Below you’ll find the official trailer, screenshots, and details for the Mugen no Shinzou III port. Like other games released on the EGG Console, this version is currently only available in Japanese.

Fifteen dimensional realms, pierced by the Creator’s “Holy Sword,” formed this world. It was ruled by the “Gods of Light” and “Gods of Darkness,” empowered and charged with leading the world toward peace.
However, a minor dispute ignited an all-out war between the two factions, engulfing all fifteen dimensions. This conflict raged for millions of years, until the “Holy Sword”—caught in the devastating battles—was shattered into pieces.
By the time the Gods realized their error and rushed to repair the world, it was too late. The Gods of Light held only three realms, including “Elder Ain,” and the sword’s hilt. The Gods of Darkness held only three realms, including “Chaos,” and the sword’s tip.
The remaining nine realms wander through distorted dimensions even now. These nine worlds are known as the “Dream World.”
The war between the gods left dimensional rifts scattered throughout all fifteen realms. To prevent their remaining three realms from drifting apart, each faction forged a smaller “Holy Sword” from their respective fragments.
The blade created by the Gods of Light is called “Hilt Slayer,” while the one forged by the Gods of Darkness is named “End Slayer.”
Just as the Creator had once done, the two factions pierced the center of their three realms with these swords. They then fell into a deep sleep to gather the energy needed to restore the final realms of the “Dream World.”
Released in 1990 by Crystal Soft, this role-playing game continues the story immediately after the events of the previous installment. You play as a seasoned warrior who has returned home after surviving a perilous journey through the Dream World.
The game features a top-down perspective and random encounters. You’ll explore the world with a party of up to four characters. While you play as a human, you can recruit a diverse group of allies, including Elves, Dwarves, Dragons, and Giants. Choosing your character’s race is just as important as choosing their class, as equipment is tied to race. At level 13, characters can change classes and unlock even more powerful abilities at higher levels.
Battles are handled through an easy-to-use auto-battle system that combines physical attacks and magic. Focusing on defense is crucial for success in combat.
Considered a cornerstone of the JRPG genre, this series offers a sweeping epic. We encourage you to discover the origins of Japanese role-playing games by playing through all three games in the trilogy.
