17-year-old TikToker accused of killing two girls went live on YouTube after incident

A 17-year-old who posts on TikTok is accused of two counts of first-degree murder after allegedly hitting and killing two girls in New Jersey. Before authorities announced the charges, he streamed on YouTube, playing video games and talking about what happened.

As reported by NJ1015, a teenager with almost 40,000 TikTok followers is facing accusations of deliberately hitting and killing Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas with a Jeep. Police held him, but formal charges weren’t filed for a few days.

Even though the accusations were serious, the teenager streamed on YouTube the next day, playing MLB The Show. During the stream, he complained about the negative reactions he was getting online and even bragged about how many people were watching. He seemed more concerned with the attention than the allegations themselves.

While watching the broadcast, TopMob heard the speaker describe the event as a “tragic accident” and express “condolences” to the victims’ families. He stated that false information was circulating online and strongly criticized viewers who were sending aggressive messages.

I was really shocked to hear him say that he won’t stand for any threats against his family. He even warned that bringing family into things was a really bad idea – he said it was like opening Pandora’s box. After that, he started talking about how New Jersey really needs more help for people with mental health issues, and then he just went back to gaming, which was…a bit jarring, honestly. It’s just frustrating to see this situation unfold.

TikToker charged with murdering two girls

The next day, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the teenager was facing two murder charges. Because of his age, his name has not been made public.

According to neighbors who spoke with Fox, the teenager had reportedly been following one of the girls for several months, frequently parking near her house. Following the fatal collision, police state that he didn’t stop, and instead continued driving with one of the girls’ bikes caught under his Jeep until the vehicle stopped working.

On October 1, the families of Maria and Isabella issued a shared statement, calling the accused “a coward of a man” and stating he “had been plotting this attack for months.”

“He is not insane, he is competent and meditated,” they said.

During a past live stream that TopMob examined, the 17-year-old admitted to repeatedly sending pizzas to Maria’s home. He did this as retaliation after she accused him of creating and sharing AI-generated deepfakes of her.

As of today, a GoFundMe campaign created to help the families affected has collected almost $130,000.

“We are devastated by the unexpected and tragic deaths of these two young people,” said Tiffany Pinero, the event organizer. “We deeply appreciate the efforts of the police, emergency personnel, and community members who did everything they could to help.”

Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro, who it was confirmed was connected to the person accused, stated he was not his father and wasn’t a member of his immediate family.

He stated, “I strongly condemn the accused’s actions, and like all of you, I believe he should be held accountable in court for what he’s accused of.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
