A highly praised political thriller, receiving perfect reviews, is coming to U.S. theaters soon. To mark the announcement, a new trailer inspired by true events has been released and is available to watch.
The new thriller, 13 Days, 13 Nights, is coming to the United States later this month. It tells the true story of the dramatic evacuation of people from Kabul after the Taliban took control in August 2021. The film centers on a humanitarian worker and a French Commander who are both stuck inside the French embassy with hundreds of civilians. The Commander has a daring escape plan, but he needs help to pull it off.
Inspired by a remarkable true story, the film 13 Days, 13 Nights offers a more intense and realistic experience than typical action thrillers. Directed by Martin Bourboulon, with a screenplay co-written by Bourboulon and Alexandre Smia, the movie is based on Mohamed Bida’s non-fiction book of the same name. The cast includes Roschdy Zem, Lyna Khoudri, Sidse Babette Knudsen, Christophe Montenez, Yan Tual, Jean-Claude Muaka, Nicolas Bridet, and Shoaib Saïd.
On August 15, 2021, as American troops began leaving Afghanistan, the Taliban quickly took control of Kabul, causing widespread chaos. Commander Mohamed Bida and his team were tasked with protecting the French Embassy, one of the last remaining Western outposts. Inside, along with hundreds of civilians, Bida and Eva, a French-Afghan aid worker, had to negotiate with the Taliban to arrange a convoy, desperately trying to evacuate people. This began a frantic race against time to reach the airport and escape the dangerous situation in Kabul before it was too late.
The recently released preview shows intense emotion and danger, giving a taste of the real-life events the film portrays. Now, it’s been announced that 13 Days, 13 Nights will be available in U.S. theaters and for digital and on-demand viewing on March 27, 2026.

The political thriller 13 Days, 13 Nights received strong positive reviews after its debut in France in June 2025 and a screening at the Cannes Film Festival. Though a Rotten Tomatoes score isn’t available yet, all of the reviews so far are positive, indicating the film effectively tells the story of this true event.
As a real film buff, I was really impressed with ’13 Days, 13 Nights’, and critics seemed to agree! Sensacine gave it almost a perfect score and highlighted how realistically the story unfolded, calling it a deeply moving thriller that truly captures the desperation of the situation – I could really feel the characters’ anguish and the pressure of time. Fotogramas also loved it, awarding it a high score and praising Roschdy Zem’s performance. They felt it was a strong European thriller that could easily stand alongside anything Hollywood produces – and I’d definitely agree with that assessment. It really kept me on the edge of my seat!
