While not a sequel to This War of Mine, 11 bit studios‘ new game, The Alters, has been a hit, selling 280,000 copies in its first month. The developers aren’t stopping there – in addition to fixing bugs with updates, they’re creating an expansion for the game, and we now know when it will be released. They also recently shared a first look at their upcoming game, Frostpunk: 1886.
According to StockWatch, Przemyslaw Marszal, the CEO of the company, announced the release date for their game, The Alters, during a recent video conference.
We plan to drop big, paid DLC for [The Alters] around mid-2026, right around the game’s anniversary.
Since The Alters launched on June 13, 2025, we can anticipate the release of any downloadable content around the same time next year.
As for the new Frostpunk, the creators are making extensive plans related to this title:
We currently don’t intend to include any purchases within the game itself. Instead, we’ll be expanding the game with downloadable content (DLC), and we plan to release these updates more often. We have a detailed roadmap for the game’s future, including several DLCs and updates planned over time.
Despite the excitement, Frostpunk: 1886 is still a ways off. This remake of the original game, built with Unreal Engine 5, isn’t expected to launch until 2027.
