$1000 cup of coffee breaks world record just weeks after being set

Believe it or not, you can now purchase a cup of coffee for about $1000, and it’s being served in Dubai – a location known for its luxury.

For years, chefs and drink experts have been constantly innovating in the world of high-end dining. This has led to some incredibly extravagant creations, like a $70,000 pizza, chicken wings decorated with real gold, and the recent popularity of over-the-top chocolate desserts in Dubai, which have significantly increased prices.

Dubai often sets the pace for new trends, particularly because luxury restaurants aim to generate excitement and attract international visitors.

The capital city of the United Arab Emirates now boasts another unique offering: a coffee that costs about $1000 per cup. It’s true!

$1000 cup of coffee goes on sale in Dubai

Julith Cafe recently unveiled the world’s priciest cup of coffee on November 5th. They acquired the Panamanian beans used to make it at auction for approximately $600,000.

The cafe owners defend the high price, explaining that they only received 20kg of the special coffee beans and plan to make around 400 cups. They also want to keep the coffee exclusive to their Julith brand and aren’t planning to sell it to other businesses, as they told AFP.

Julith Cafe is making its coffee even more exclusive by saving some of its bean supply for Dubai’s royal family, according to AFP.

The previous highest price was 2500 dihrams – about $681 – and that record was just set last September. Since Guinness World Records officially recognized that price, they’ll need to update their records now.

One resident described the price as surprisingly high, but added that it’s typical for Dubai, and locals are accustomed to such costs.
