Marvel Studios has announced that Doorman, a character known from the comics, will be featured in the upcoming Wonder Man series. This marks the first time Doorman will appear on screen, and fans are excited about the addition of another mutant to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Byron Bowers to play Doorman in Marvel’s Wonder Man
Marvel Studios is adding another mutant character to its growing list for on-screen appearances. Byron Bowers will play Doorman (real name DeMarr Davis) in the upcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man. The news was revealed in the Winter 2025 issue of D23 Magazine, giving fans a first look at the character’s live-action debut. (Source: The Direct)
Doorman first appeared in West Coast Avengers #46 in 1989. He’s a regular guy who answered an ad looking for heroes in costumes. His ability lets him become ghost-like, allowing himself and others to walk through solid objects like walls. He typically wears a simple black outfit with white gloves, boots, a cape, and a mask with diamond-shaped eyes.
In the Marvel comics, Doorman frequently teams up with the Great Lakes Avengers, a group whose members have changed over time and included heroes like Squirrel Girl, Flatman, Mr. Immortal, and even Hawkeye and Deadpool. However, Marvel Studios hasn’t announced if this team will be featured in their movies or shows.
Marvel Studios will kick off Phase 6 with “Wonder Man” on January 27, 2026. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams and features Sir Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery. The story centers on Williams’ experiences in Hollywood as he pursues the starring role in a superhero movie.
Bowers’ Doorman is the latest mutant character from Marvel comics to appear in a movie or TV show. He follows Namor, who was established as a mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and joins other actors with ties to the X-Men who are returning for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film.
