007 First Light Has Been Delayed

For much of last year, IO Interactive told fans to expect their new James Bond game, 007 First Light, in early 2026. Originally planned for release on March 27th, the game is now scheduled to come out on May 27th.

Late last month, Hakan Abrak from IO Interactive described their new 007 game, First Light, as their most ambitious project yet, promising classic Bond elements like exciting car chases, cool gadgets, and adventures in locations around the world. He also announced the game’s delay, explaining that the extra time will allow them to deliver a polished, high-quality experience for players from the start.

Abrak shared that the game is currently complete and can be played from start to finish. The extra two months of development will be used to improve the game and make sure it’s the best it can be when it launches. The team believes this will help 007 First Light succeed in the long run, and they thank players for their patience and support since the game was first announced.

Abrak discussed the postponement of GTA 6 in November 2025, explaining why he believes it ultimately benefited the upcoming 007 game, First Light, and the gaming world as a whole. First Light will star Patrick Gibson as a younger version of James Bond and will explore a new backstory for the iconic character.

Martin Emborg, the narrative director for 007 First Light, recently revealed to TopMob that Lenny Kravitz’s character, the pirate king Bawma, won’t be the only villain players will face. He also explained that Kravitz was heavily involved in developing Bawma’s personality and backstory.

Emborg explained that Bawma was always intended to be a vibrant and memorable character. When Lenny joined the project, he played a key role in developing Bawma’s personality and appearance. They collaborated closely, refining everything from the character’s backstory to their unique style, resulting in the Bawma we see today. It was truly a joint effort.

007 First Light will be available on Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
