Warframe’s tech team is excited to take advantage of Nintendo Switch 2 features, but are waiting on devkits

Prior to TennoCon, during which Digital Extremes unveiled numerous Warframe updates, I had been granted access to a virtual sneak peek of the event. This was followed by a communal Q&A session where I could enquire about potential support for Warframe on Nintendo Switch 2 and also Android-related features. These topics were further discussed in another news article I wrote.

At this pre-TennoCon media event, a group question-and-answer session took place that included Rebecca Ford (Warframe’s Creative Director), Megan Everett (Warframe’s Community Director and Live Ops), Steve Sinclair (CEO), among others. Previously, Warframe faced some challenges when ported to the Nintendo Switch via backward compatibility. However, these problems were swiftly resolved following the system’s launch, and now, you can enjoy playing it, as evidenced by the photo I have shared below.

Inquired about Digital Extremes’ intentions regarding Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility, and here’s what their team shared (with some minor adjustments for better understanding).

Megan: Right now, Warframe is available on the Nintendo Switch 2. You can grab it from the eShop. We’re referring to this as the original version of Warframe for Nintendo Switch. I think we’re still anticipating our development kits for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Steve: Our tech team is thrilled about utilizing the powerful high-speed cores and other fantastic features of it, but we’re currently swamped with development kits requests. As soon as we receive one, we’ll create a custom build specifically for Warframe to improve load times and leverage additional cores that we can’t do yet without the dev kit.

Warframe can currently be played on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and it will soon be accessible on iOS devices. An exclusive closed beta for Android users is scheduled for the autumn season.
