VTuber community furious as Twitch bans yet another creator on their birthday

As a dedicated fan of chromuchromu, I find myself deeply disheartened by the recent turn of events that transpired on their special day. Being banned on one’s birthday is undoubtedly an unfortunate occurrence, and it’s even more distressing when one hasn’t violated any Twitch Terms of Service.

The Twitch VTubing community finds itself displeased following the abrupt ban of one of its members, ‘chromuchromu,’ on their birthday.

As a dedicated gamer, I was all set for my birthday celebration stream on October 10th. However, fate had other plans as I was met with a seven-day ban, bringing an unexpected and disappointing end to the festivities.

β€œI got banned on my birthday and I wasn’t breaking any Twitch TOS,” they claimed.

Afterwards, the VTuber clarified that they were temporarily banned on the Amazon-controlled platform due to “potential hazardous content related to minors.

They believe there’s an issue involving the risk to children, it was stated. However, I clearly mark my content as 18+, and while I do tell plenty of jokes, I never behave like a child or make inappropriate jokes about such topics. My character design is more of a stylized, chibi creature.

On my birthday, I was unfairly banned from Twitch. My content doesn’t violate the Terms of Service as it’s labeled as 18+. Although I do use humor, I never behave inappropriately or make childish jokes. My character model is a strange, chibi creature. Can you review and rectify this issue?

On Twitch, it’s important to follow the community guidelines which clearly prohibit portraying anime characters that appear child-like in a sexual manner. This restriction applies to VTubers, as well as situations where game avatars are uploaded, like VRChat, regardless of whether the user controlling the child-like avatar is over 18 years old.

Chromuchromu’s character doesn’t resemble a human and they’ve challenged the ban, yet the prohibition is still in effect, causing distress among the community.

β€œOmg this is HORRIBLE! Happy Birthday, but you don’t deserve this,” one blasted.

Some Vtubers are getting banned without a valid cause, even though they strictly adhere to the guidelines set out in the Terms of Service. It was inevitable, as predicted.

It’s not unusual for a VTuber to be banned on their birthday; in fact, it happened with Fallenshadow back in July. Their avatar’s actions and the issue of their age were the reasons behind the ban, which left the creator puzzled.

The ban comes as VTubers are growing increasingly upset at the platform for its policies and feel they’ve been unfairly targeted.

In October, Twitch expanded their community guidelines to clarify that Virtual YouTubers (VTubers) must adhere to the same dress code as standard streamers. This move was made in response to criticism, with Twitch stating that the rules have always been in place and they’re now simplifying them for better understanding.

I don’t want this situation to spoil my birthday celebration, although I’m feeling down, there seems to be no immediate solution. So, thank you so much for the wonderful time we shared tonight!! πŸ’—

In the meantime, chromuchromu assures that they will compensate for the missed birthday stream once they are no longer banned, and they don’t want this suspension to spoil their special day.
