As a dedicated fan who has followed FNS’ career since his early days in Counter-Strike, I must say it’s bittersweet to hear about his plans for retirement after 2025. His decision to step back from competitive gaming marks the end of an era, but also opens up new possibilities for this remarkable individual who has consistently shown resilience and adaptability throughout his career.
On a live stream, veteran Valorant player and previous Counter-Strike professional FNS announced his intention to retire from competitive gaming by 2025, considering that year’s season will mark his final run in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT).
On his live broadcast on September 25th, the renowned Valorant player from Canada expressed a strong likelihood of not participating in competitions by 2026, arguing that it wouldn’t be beneficial either for him personally or for any potential teams interested in recruiting him.
FNS stated that the abundance of skillful players not only in North America but globally is exciting. He wishes more individuals could have their moment on the field too. However, he feels it’s unnecessary at this point. As for him, he wants to explore other interests.
The seasoned eSports player expressed his desire to explore opportunities beyond competition, as this is what he’s been engaged in, starting from his twenties and extending through his thirties.
Since turning 20 in 2012, FNS has been participating in esports tournaments. In 2020, he shifted his focus to Valorant after representing multiple North American CS:GO teams. Now, as a member of NRG Esports, FNS is 32 years old and stands out as one of the older players in the VCT Leagues.
This year, he intends to put maximum effort into his performance and exhaust all his abilities, after which he plans to retire. Already a veteran in the world of Valorant, he has previously won a major tournament, Masters Reykjavík, and boasts numerous appearances on the international stage of this esport.
It’s been announced that FNS will be among the growing number of top-tier Valorant players departing from the esport. Previously, TenZ and Sacy shocked the VCT community with their retirement announcements. However, unlike them, FNS has given fans a heads up about his departure before he plays his last season.
It’s uncertain if the veteran will follow through with his plan, despite expressing a strong sense of determination to pursue something beyond competitive gaming. Known more for his strategic acumen than mechanical skill, the 30-year-old player could potentially contribute to various rosters beyond 2025 due to his tactical prowess.
Following his shift to Valorant and subsequent achievements, FNS has experienced significant growth in his social media fanbase. In the future, he might evolve into a content creator similar to TenZ during his post-competitive phase. Alternatively, he could continue his career in esports as a coach or general manager.
Regardless, FNS fans should watch his 2025 campaign closely, as it will most likely be his last time on stage.
