As a longtime fan of Miley Cyrus, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe as I watch her performances on “The Masked Singer.” From her humble beginnings as Hannah Montana to her current status as a pop culture icon, Miley has consistently shown an incredible talent for music and performance.
⚠️ Here’s a preview for the November 20th episode of “The Masked Singer,” titled “Miley Cyrus Night” and airing on Fox: Details ahead!
On Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer,” Drake Bell opened up about the intense media scrutiny he faced earlier this year, speaking candidly about his experiences in a pre-performance voiceover. After being unveiled as the Ice King this week, Bell took a moment to share some deeply personal thoughts with viewers.
Bell confessed his truth, hiding as the Ice King, and immediately regretted it. He pictured his tale splashed across headlines and the internet, causing him immense anxiety. He pleaded for them to withdraw his story, but they couldn’t. The moment it was published, he was a wreck. Paralyzed. However, when he saw that many could empathize with his situation, he felt a burden lifted from his shoulders. His secret is now out in the open. I don’t need everyone to comprehend me, but I needed to move past this chapter. For those who stand by me, thank you. Your support gives me the feeling that the sky’s the limit.
Ice King (Bell) opened up about his past, revealing that during his time on the Nickelodeon show “Drake and Josh,” he experienced sexual abuse. This topic was discussed in the Investigation Discovery documentary series titled “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids’ TV.
Recently, Bell has been traveling around the nation, showcasing his tunes, with a performance coming up next month in Los Angeles. Last year, you might recognize him from the Mexican adaptation of “The Masked Singer,” known as “¿Quién es la máscara?”, where he was the Baby Alien character.
The main reason I got interested in ‘The Masked Singer’ was trying something new and having a good time,” he expressed. “I’m usually engrossed in work and performances. The idea of donning an unusual costume, singing songs I wouldn’t typically choose, learning complex choreography, and being surrounded by grand productions seemed like it would be incredibly enjoyable.
Originally, Bell intended to perform “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley the following week. However, he closed the show with “Midnight Sky,” a song by Miley Cyrus instead.
As a cinephile, I found myself intrigued during the panel discussion when Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg initially guessed Drake Bell, but eventually zeroed in on James Franco. Rita Ora chimed in with Shia LeBeouf, Ken Jeong thought it was Joe Jonas, and Robin Thicke went for Cole Sprouse. However, I can’t help but wonder who the correct answer might be…
The theme of the show was “Miley Cyrus Night,” but she wasn’t physically present. However, her music was there, as evident by the performance of “Party in the U.S.A.” by Strawberry Shortcake, Ice King, Royal Knight, and Sherlock Hound. Later on, the panelists joked about Thicke’s famous connection to Cyrus (due to their 2013 MTV VMAs twerking performance). Robin, you know, has had a close relationship with Miley, McCarthy-Wahlberg stated. Thicke playfully retorted: “Contrary to popular belief, I have never actually met Miley!
In the latest season of “The Masked Singer,” Drake Bell was revealed as Ice King, Bethany Hamilton emerged as Macaron, Natalie Imbruglia took off her mask to become Bluebell, Laverne Cox was unmasked as Chess Piece, Andy Richter appeared as Dusty Bunny, Paula Cole was identified as Ship, Marsai Martin was unveiled as Woodpecker, Yvette Nicole Brown’s identity was exposed as Showbird, and John Elway was revealed as Leaf Sheep.
Back for Season 12 are host Nick Cannon, alongside panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke, while Ora also returned to the desk for the second consecutive season to fill in for Nicole Scherzinger.
Season 12 of “The Masked Singer” will feature episodes dedicated to various themes, such as celebrating Mattel’s Barbie on its 65th anniversary, honoring the film “Footloose” as it turns 40, an episode highlighting Miley Cyrus’ music catalog, a “Who Are You Fest,” showcasing popular tunes from iconic festival lineups, a “Sports Night,” and a “60’s Night.” Additionally, popular themes returning include the “Soundtrack of My Life” and “Thanksgiving Night.
As a movie buff eagerly anticipating the new season, I’m thrilled to learn that clues will be cleverly hidden in costumes, song selections, and key on-stage moments. Fifteen famous faces are set to join the competition, each with a mysterious identity veiled by elaborate costumes. They’ll even have a “Celebrity Masked Ambassador” backing them – an esteemed group made up of previous participants like Dick Van Dyke (Season 9’s Gnome), Jewel (Season 6 winner as the Queen of Hearts), Ne-yo (Season 10 winner as the Cow), and DeMarcus Ware (Season 11’s Koala). And just when you thought it couldn’t get more intense, the “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell is back, adding another layer of suspense. However, only one singer from the three group finals will be granted a lifeline to continue their journey towards unmasking. Can’t wait to see who will reign supreme!
Season 12 features 15 contestants performing in new costumes including “Ship,” “Leaf Sheep,” “Woodpecker,” “Chess Piece,” “Bluebell,” “Buffalo,” “Showbird,” “Dust Bunny,” “Goo,” “Strawberry Shortcake,” “Sherlock Hound,” “Royal Knight,” “Ice King,” “Macaron” and more.

Sherlock Hound’s Narration: “In her youth, Miley was renowned for her free-spirited and lively nature, much like this old canine. As a younger dog, I too was unbridled, reckless, and always seeking adventure. It was during those days that I encountered my greatest case yet – attempting to lift an almost century-old curse. Many had tried before me and failed, but with my determination, I knew we could find a way out of this predicament. Cornered between a rock and a hard place, I refused to back down. With my team by my side, I single-handedly lifted the curse, etching our names in history books. Although I’ve evolved since then, similar to Miley, I never forget those days of freedom, excitement, and youth.

“Ice King’s voiceover: Miley and I share a common experience – we both understand how harsh media can be. This year, I found myself at the center of a media whirlwind. I felt ready to reveal my truth to the world, but almost instantly regretted it. The thought of my words spreading across news platforms and the internet made me extremely anxious. I pleaded for them to withdraw my story, but had no control over that decision. On the night it was released, I was a mess – frozen with fear. But when I saw how many people related to my situation, I felt a burden lift from my shoulders. My story is now public knowledge, and I don’t expect everyone to understand me. However, I’ve made an effort to move past that chapter of my life, which was my ultimate goal. For those who stand by me, thank you. Your support makes me feel like the sky’s the limit.

“Strawberry Shortcake voiceover: “Miley’s performance feels incredibly relatable for me, reminiscent of the days of Hannah Montana, almost as if we lived next door to each other. In reality, it turns out that we have strikingly similar aspirations in the kitchen and, interestingly enough, a similar path to success. We both grew up under the public eye, enjoyed the sweet taste of fame, and even shared a stage at some point. Our lives intertwined further as we were friends with the same famous brothers. And yes, we’ve both experienced heartbreak with them. Let’s not mince words. Tonight, I am honored to perform one of her most iconic breakup songs, a tribute to a true icon in the music industry. Miley.

“This evening, we honor Miley, and much like her journey, mine has also been filled with multiple phases. In Chapter 2, even though I stand here resplendent in my polished armor tonight, a significant part of my life felt fractured. A string of unfortunate relationships, acts of deceit, and heart-wrenching sorrows left me feeling fragmented. The most painful was the belief that it was all my own doing. But deep within, I held on to hope that love would find me. And let me tell you, the struggle was immense. As my world crumbled around me, a figure emerged on the horizon – a guiding light, pulling me towards salvation. Now, he’s my compass. Whenever I lose my way, I turn to him and he reminds me of my strength. It’s why seeing this mask brought tears to my eyes for the first time. Seems fitting, doesn’t it? Tonight, this song is dedicated to him – the night I found my light in the darkness.”>
