Star Wars: Outlaws Failed to Meet Ubisoft's Expectations. The Company Apologizes and Promises Major Fix Ahead of Steam Release

As a dedicated Star Wars fan with countless hours spent immersed in the galaxy far, far away, I must say I feel a mix of anticipation and concern about the latest developments with Star Wars: Outlaws. On one hand, it’s exciting to hear that updates are coming to enhance the gameplay, optimize performance, and even introduce quality-of-life improvements – especially for the combat and stealth system, which are crucial elements in a game like this.

At present, Ubisoft seems to be facing some challenges. Lately, there’s been a significant decrease in their stock value, they’ve decided not to participate in the Tokyo Game Show 2024, and unexpectedly, news broke about the postponement of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. However, fresh details regarding Star Wars: Outlaws have surfaced recently.

Star Wars: Outlaws sales fell short of expectations

Today, the French company disclosed a financial overview, which unveiled some intriguing details. For example, we learned that the recently launched game set in the Star Wars universe fell short of expectations with disappointing sales figures. Initial projections suggested that around 800,000 copies would be sold by the end of August; however, it appears that this did not materialize.

Despite receiving favorable reviews, with a Metacritic score of 76 and an average user rating of 3.9/5 across both First Party and Epic stores, indicating an engaging and realistic Star Wars universe, the launch sales for Star Wars Outlaws were lower than anticipated.

Yet, the studio remains determined and thinks that the game will successfully draw in a significant number of players during the upcoming festive period.

Something new on the horizon

The creators of the game “SW: Outlaws” expressed their gratitude to players on X while also hinting at upcoming enhancements in the game, such as optimizations for better performance, refinements in gameplay mechanics, and the addition of life-easing features. Specifically mentioned are adjustments to both combat and stealth systems.

The first story pack entitled “Wild Cards” has its launch date revealed as well. You can expect it on November 21, and it centers around a Sabacc game tournament where players get to challenge the iconic Lando Calrissian. Additionally, everyone will be given fresh contracts without charge.
