At the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 Group B Elimination Match, Team Spirit squared off against Astralis. This team has been embroiled in a bit of drama due to the emergency substitute rule bringing in their recent recruit, Casper “cadiaN” Møller, who took on the In-Game Leader role.
In this elimination game, Team Spirit advanced due to a surprising comeback from Team Liquid, whereas Astralis suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Vitality, who won convincingly with a 2-0 scoreline, with one map ending in a dominant 13-0 victory for Vitality.

On Astralis’ map pick of Ancient, Team Spirit won the Pistol Round, but then Astralis instantly responded to tie up the score 1-1, then extended their lead to 2-1 before losing a round to Team Spirit’s pistols as teams got tied 2-2.
Astralis stabilized with some solid round wins, taking a 5-2 lead. That means that in the 7th round on the first map, Astralis scored more round wins than they did in the entire two-map series against Vitality, and that’s the last time I’ll mention cadiaN’s debut with Astralis in this report…
Team Spirit finally pulled one back in the 10th round for a 7-3 scoreline in favor of Astralis. However, Astralis responded instantly and broke Spirit’s economy, then closed out the first half with a 9-3 lead.
During the switch, Astralis kicked off their CT phase powerfully, securing the Pistol Round and subsequently building an impressive 11-3 advantage. Following this, they claimed the first rifle round and converted once more in the 16th round to dominate Ancient 13-3. Prior to this encounter, Team Spirit boasted a 17-6 victory count on Ancient against top-tier competition.

On Mirage, Team Spirit initiated play on the attacking side, and things looked promising as they secured the first-half Pistol Round and established a 2-0 lead. For the majority of the time, their opponents, Astralis, were unarmed in this round. However, Astralis’ Victor “Staehr” Staehr managed an incredible four kills to narrow the gap. Spirit retaliated with a kill too, and then slightly extended their lead to 4-1 on Mirage. Yet again, Astralis staged another comeback, managing to reduce the deficit.
In economically disadvantaged rounds, Astralis consistently put pressure on Spirit, holding back their two AWPs (snipers) for players dev1ce and cadiaN. This led to some unusual situations and successful defensive plays.
Initially, Astralis matched Mirage’s score at 5-5. Just barely, Spirit held onto the final two rounds during the initial phase, securing a 7-5 advantage for themselves before both teams changed positions.
In the latter part of Map Mirage, Team Spirit gained some traction and successfully took a narrow lead in the Pistol Round during the second half. However, they failed to capitalize on this advantage when facing Astralis’s force buy, as Astralis didn’t suffer any losses in the 14th round.
In the heat of the game, Astralis swiftly retaliated to snatch a 9-6 lead in a nail-biting first half. I, being part of Spirit, planted on B site next and managed a clean victory, making it a tight scoreline. The Danish side ramped up their intensity, inflicting economic damage on us, tying the game at 9-9. They were relentless, even compelling us to take a tactical pause.

In a critical moment following the plant, cadiaN from Astralis made an excellent decision to focus on the B bombsite, which ultimately gave them the advantage. This tactic paid off as they managed to outplay Spirit while they were in an economic disadvantage, resulting in a 11-9 scoreline favoring Denmark.
After an outstanding counterplay on the A site, Spirit managed to regain a foothold on the map, making Astralis reconsider their strategies. A swift kill by Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and preventing the bomb plant resulted in Team Spirit matching Astralis at 11-11 on Mirage.
After an impressive defensive stand on B site, Spirit claimed the 12th round, moving towards map victory. Astralis, starting with a low economy, struggled in the final round, but Spirit capitalized and secured the win within regulation time. The result was a 13-11 victory for Spirit, clinching the series 2-1.
In simpler terms, Team Spirit advances to the quarterfinals of the BLAST Fall Final 2024 playoffs held at the Forum Copenhagen in Denmark, playing as the underdogs, whereas Astralis gets eliminated from the competition.
