PSN outage wreaks havoc in EA FC 25 Squad Battles, Rivals & Champs

As a dedicated player of EA FC 25, I’ve experienced my fair share of highs and lows, but this PSN outage has taken the cake. I’ve been grinding for weeks to climb ranks, complete Squad Battles, and secure those sweet rewards, only to be met with a sudden disconnect that cost me precious points and games.

As a dedicated gamer on PlayStation, I’ve been finding it frustratingly difficult to get into EA Football Club 25 Ultimate Team lately due to some PSN outages. It seems like these server issues are giving Xbox players quite an edge when it comes to the game’s online modes.

In simple terms, playing Ultimate Team involves a structured weekly routine where you have to dedicate time not only to Squad Battles but also to Division Rivals to collect desirable rewards. Additionally, October 4 signifies the start of the FUT Champions competition this season, offering additional chances to obtain packs.

Even the most committed gamers aim to finish their games across all three modes, but the outage on PlayStation Network on September 30 disrupted the progress for numerous players.

In Squad Battles, it seems that the changes have impacted this mode the most significantly. The points you earn are influenced by the entire player base’s activity in the game. So, if more players are actively participating in the mode during a particular week, the number of points required for each rank will rise. Conversely, if there’s less activity and it’s a slower week, the points needed for each rank will decrease accordingly.

Due to PlayStation gamers being unable to play for a long time, it provided an opportunity for Xbox users to complete their games, climb up the rankings, and secure wins. Once PS5 and PS4 players return to the game, they’ll discover that they’ll require significantly more points than before to maintain or improve their positions.

Others have shared that technical issues with the PlayStation Network caused them to exit a Squad Battles game prematurely. Instantly, this resulted in a loss for them, taking away one of their fifteen weekly matches, thereby providing an edge to players using Xbox and PC.

In a post on Reddit, ‘Big-Discipline’ expressed frustration after being expelled from Squad Battles, stating that their ranking for the week had been negatively impacted because there are fewer matches to play per week now, since they barely have enough games to compete in each week.

In addition to Division Rivals, several players found themselves at a disadvantage due to the required 45 points for top prizes being hard to attain. Not only was their current game session abruptly ended by the outage, but precious minutes were lost as well.

Another frustrated player exclaimed, ‘I was ahead by 88 minutes and had scored twice in Rivals… oh dear me,’ expressing his exasperation. It’s tough enough trying to achieve 15 victories without situations like this cropping up.

Over the top of everything else, the FUT Champs were set to start this weekend, and some players were in the middle of one of the five vital qualifying matches when the PlayStation Network experienced an outage. To make it into the Weekend League, you need to win three games, so being disconnected and receiving a loss could mean missing out on the opportunity.

He was leading 2-0 in a Champions League match, which would have become 3-0 had he won. But another Reddit user commented, ‘Now that I know it’s the final game, I’m going to choke and lose.’

After being down for several hours, it seems that PSN is finally returning online again. However, some Electronic Arts FIFA 25 players might have already suffered the consequences.
