As a seasoned Pokémon Trainer with memories of catching my first Bulbasaur etched deep within my heart, the announcement of the Mythical Island Booster Pack for Pokemon TCG Pocket has sent me into a frenzy! After years of Gen 1 domination in the game, I’ve seen it all – from Mewtwo’s Genetic Apex pack to the infamous Misty & Starmie duo. But the arrival of Mew ex and Aerodactyl ex has me shaking with anticipation!
At long last, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket edition will be moving on from Genetic Apex and Promos, having just announced the upcoming release of the Mythical Island Booster Pack in December.
In the starting sets of Pokemon Pocket, there’s a strong emphasis on Generation 1. All the Supporter cards feature characters from Pokemon Red and Blue, while the Genetic Apex packs primarily focus on Mewtwo, Charizard, and Pikachu.
In a video shared on the official Pokemon YouTube channel, we get a glimpse of the upcoming Booster Pack that carries forward the Gen 1 affection. Mark your calendars, as the Mythical Island Booster Pack is set to launch on December 17. Start accumulating those hourglasses now, trainers!
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Mythical Island is adding exciting new cards
The trailer focused on two big cards: Mew ex and Aerodactyl ex.
This Pokémon, Mew EX, is capable of inflicting 20 points of damage with a single Psyshot, requiring only one Psychic Energy. However, what truly sets it apart is its Genome Hacking ability, which allows it to replicate an opponent’s attack for three Energy cards of any type. So, Dragonite trainers might as well throw in the towel.
In the game world of Pokémon, Aerodactyl with the Primeval Law Ability hinders opponents from evolving Pokémon from their hand. This is exceptionally powerful in the present format of Pokemon Pocket, as there are no alternate ways for evolution. Additionally, it can dish out 80 damage through a two-energy attack, requiring one Energy specifically of type Fighting.
Mythical Island is now offering a new card called “Blue” that functions as a supporter. Essentially, Blue serves a purpose similar to Giovanni but in reverse, providing your Pokémon with protection from the initial 10 points of damage inflicted by an opponent’s Pokémon during the following turn. This feature helps shield your Pokémon from minor, continuous damage (chip damage).
The Mythical Island deck appears ready to unveil some thrilling cards that could significantly alter gameplay dynamics, as Mew ex and Aerodactyl ex are poised to become formidable adversaries in PvP battles. It won’t be long before enthusiasts can incorporate these ancient foes into their decks, hoping they will overthrow the reigning Misty & Starmie duo.
