One Piece gets unexpected Sakamoto Days crossover thanks to card game

As a lifelong fan of both One Piece and Sakamoto Days, this unexpected crossover has left me absolutely thrilled! The One Piece Card Game is already a dream come true for fans like myself, but adding illustrations from the creators of our beloved series just takes it to another level.

In an exciting turn of events, two popular Shonen mangas, One Piece and Sakamoto Days, recently had an unanticipated collaboration through a card game. Here’s the scoop on the crossover.

In July 2022, the One Piece Card Game made its debut in Japan, marking the 25th anniversary of the manga. The game eventually became available globally later that year. This card game is a tribute to Eiichiro Oda’s renowned manga and anime series, designed for collectors.

In this game, participants design their unique card collections and engage in duels against others with the aim of reducing their adversary’s life points to nil. Notably, the artist behind Sakamoto Days, Yuto Suzuki, designed an image of Shanks as one of the collectible cards.

The manga “Sakamoto Days,” a highly acclaimed modern Shonen series, is on the verge of becoming an anime, further boosting its already growing fanbase. Additionally, the artist behind J Stars Victory VS, Kyousuke Usuta, recently unveiled an illustration featuring Buggy.

Fans can’t hide their excitement for the adored One Piece character, Shanks, as they express their joy and admiration over his incredible appearance.

One fan writes, “MY FAV OP CHARACTER DRAWN BY THE AUTHOR OF MY FAVORITE NEW GEN MANGA UGHHHHHHH WILL BE GETTING THIS!”

It’s quite surprising when creators of other mangas produce artwork for One Piece Character Gallery (OPCG), which explains why the art is so exceptional, remarks another.

Oda is quite influential that other manga artists are sketching cards for a card game of his, even though it’s not widely played,” adds another voice.

The fourth one expresses admiration towards Yuto Suzuki, stating that he never fails to impress. Viewing his illustrations is always a visual delight.
