New Unannounced From Software Game Will Reportedly Be Coming Sooner Than You Think

According to recent reports, From Software is progressing with a game that can be played across multiple platforms, and given its current advancement, there’s a strong possibility that it will be launched in the coming year.

Based on reports from MP1st, the game seems to be moving forward as planned, with a potential release year of 2026, assuming there are no delays in development.

The specifics about this upcoming game remain unclear, except for its alleged code name FMC. This might not seem like much information, but as pointed out by mp1st, the use of ‘F’ in a code name could hint at potential future projects. Previous Dark Souls games and Armored Core 6 had ‘F’ in their internal codenames, while Elden Ring was known as GR. From Software’s latest game, Elden Ring: Nightreign, used CL as its internal codename. So, the presence of ‘F’ might suggest a link to From Software’s past or upcoming projects.

Based on the code names, the report suggests that the project doesn’t appear to be a downloadable content (DLC) expansion for any current game developed by From Software. This is because From Software often uses consistent codenames for DLC in their files as well as in the base game. Furthermore, since it’s also said to be designed for multiple platforms, the code name doesn’t seem to refer to “The Duskbloods,” a multiplayer-focused game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, which is expected to launch next year.

Considering the naming pattern of past games, both the Dark Souls and Armored Core series seem to be top possibilities for the project. It might be a new installment in either franchise, but there’s also a significant probability, as suggested by mp1st, that it could be a remake or enhanced version of Dark Souls 3 instead.

Software company From Software has been quite active indeed. They launched Armored Core 6 in the year 2023, and last year saw the release of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, followed by Elden Ring: Nightreign in May. In April, they unveiled their upcoming project, The Duskbloods, during a Nintendo Direct primarily focusing on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The announcement of a new game from From Software could reassure some fans who have been concerned about their recent shift towards multiplayer titles. However, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of From Software and director of Duskbloods, has stated that they are not abandoning single-player games entirely. Instead, they plan to continue developing games that reflect their traditional style.
