MrBeast silently pulls AI artist job listing after massive fan backlash

As a long-time fan who has followed MrBeast’s journey from humble beginnings to YouTube stardom, I find myself deeply disappointed and saddened by the recent events surrounding his career. The job listing incident for an AI Concept Artist was handled poorly, to say the least. It seems that in the pursuit of innovation, the human touch and the needs of genuine artists were overlooked.

On September 27, a job posting on LinkedIn by MrBeast for an AI Concept Artist was later re-labeled and eventually removed on September 29 following criticisms from his fanbase.

Criticism of the listing was swift following its discovery, with one X/Twitter user who drew attention to the post stating “Hey MrBeast go f**k yourself, dude. Maybe put a real artist who needs a job on payroll instead of shilling out money for someone to put a prompt into a generator. Unbelievable.”

On September 28th, the position that garnered over a hundred applications underwent a name change, now being referred to as the Thumbnail Concept Artist. However, it still maintains connections with AI technology in its description.

We’re searching for a skilled and imaginative Thumbnail Concept Artist with experience in the YouTube realm, capable of swiftly transforming our video ideas into thumbnail concepts. Your role will involve creating ideas for various videos given to you, leveraging tools like AI to optimize and elevate the creative workflow. Above all, we need a team player who consistently seeks ways to grow and improve.

Currently, the job opening that was previously listed on MrBeast’s LinkedIn page cannot be found. Attempting to apply directly by searching for it results in a “Page not found” message.

Despite the specific cause for the ad’s take-down, the unfavorable circumstances have further fueled negative opinions towards the MrBeast brand in 2024. On September 27th, a team member from the Beast Games set in Las Vegas was allegedly given a warning about potential termination.

Previous team members involved with the project had expressed concerns about the work environment, labeling it as “unprofessional.” On September 16, a lawsuit was brought forth by participants in the Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming they were subjected to “ongoing abuse” during the filming of the reality show.
