Monster Hunter Wilds collector’s edition has weirdest merch yet

As a seasoned Monster Hunter fan who has traversed countless maps and slain countless beasts, I must confess, this new Ultimate Collector’s Edition of Monster Hunter Wilds has left me quite bewildered. For 181,590 yen (roughly $1260 USD), I could buy a small car instead! But alas, the allure of a folding bike adorned with the green and purple hues of Seikrets is hard to resist.

It’s been revealed that a unique version of Monster Hunter Wilds, set to launch soon, will feature some of the oddest and priciest merchandise so far – items that aren’t directly tied to the series.

In Monster Hunter Ride (I’m paraphrasing here), the series has emphasized battle mounts for players to utilize. For instance, in Monster Hunter Rise, there were Palamutes, these were small-scale dog companions you could ride on confined maps. Conversely, Monster Hunter Wilds will introduce Seikrets, massive lizards that traverse the expansive open environment.

It seems that Capcom aims to give players an experience similar to feeling the wind while riding a bike in real life, just like they do in the Monster Hunter games. This is made possible through a newly unveiled special edition for Monster Hunter Wilds, announced on the e-Capcom Twitter/X page, which includes a bike as part of the package.

Players can purchase the Premium Collector’s Version of Monster Hunter Wilds for approximately 181,590 yen, which is equivalent to around $1260 USD. This special edition of the game comes complete with a collapsible bicycle in the distinctive green and purple hues of Seikrets.

This Special Edition comes with additional items such as a satchel-like sack, a cuddly toy, and a hardcover version of the game in steel casing.

Bummer, mate! Looks like the latest Monster Hunter Wilds release is only available in Japan for now. If you’re cool with shelling out some extra cash for shipping, then maybe you’ll get to zoom around on that sweet Monster Hunter bike. But if we don’t hear about an international edition soon, it might be a while before I can join the hunt with you!

Although Capcom is known for offering unique merchandise like Resident Evil scented candles and energy drinks resembling First Aid Sprays, the Monster Hunter bike might take the cake as the most unusual item yet. Despite its questionable practicality, fans with ample funds and a desire to burn calories could find reasons to utilize it, such as for online bragging rights while pretending to fend off monsters with a makeshift weapon like a poster tube.
