Jonathan Majors ‘Heartbroken’ Over Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Replacing Kang in Next ‘Avengers’ Films; He’d Still Return to MCU ‘If That’s What Marvel Wants’

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with years of immersion in various genres and productions under my belt, I find myself intrigued by this turn of events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The news about Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom in the upcoming “Avengers” movies comes as a bittersweet moment for me.

Jonathan Majors expressed his deep sadness to TMZ upon learning that Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Doctor Doom, would take over as the antagonist in the upcoming “Avengers” films, thereby displacing Majors’ role as Kang the Conqueror.

In December, Marvel decided to part ways with Majors after he was convicted of two misdemeanor charges related to harassment and assault. Originally, his character, Kang, was intended to become the new main antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over from Thanos. Kang was slated to play a significant role in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” However, this project has been canceled and replaced by “Avengers: Doomsday,” which features Robert Downey Jr. instead.

“Indeed, feeling quite shattered. Yes, I was affected by Marvel’s recent changes,” Majors confirmed when TMZ inquired about his feelings. “Kang is my favorite, but let me tell you, Doctor Doom is truly devious.”

Previously, TMZ pointed out that despite Downey’s past legal problems, he was being considered for a bigger role in future Marvel films. Back in 1996, Downey was arrested and put on probation for possessing heroin, cocaine, and an unloaded gun. Over the years, he encountered various legal issues, causing some Marvel producers to hesitate before casting him as Tony Stark in “Iron Man” (2008).

“Majors expressed that it’s only right for Mr. Downey to receive understanding, interest, and affection, as well as the chance to express his creativity and artistic skills, given his second chance in the industry, despite past legal issues. However, he felt this opportunity wasn’t extended to him.”

“Majors is thrilled about the possibility of reprising his role as Kang in the MCU. He expressed his enthusiasm by saying, ‘Absolutely! Absolutely! I adore him. I love Kang.’ If it’s what the fans and Marvel want, he’s all for it. He said, ‘Let’s do it! Let’s roll!'”

On March 25th, I found myself in handcuffs due to accusations of assault and harassment. My former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, claimed that I had assaulted her in the backseat of a private vehicle after she picked up my phone to read a text message from another woman. According to her account, I forcefully snatched my phone back, inflicting a painful injury on her right middle finger, and upon exiting the car, I struck the back of her head and attempted to compel her back inside, causing a wound behind her right ear.

In my opinion as a movie reviewer, in the recent court verdict regarding Major’s trial, it was decided that he was not guilty on two counts: one of intentional assault in the third degree and another of aggravated harassment in the second degree. Following his arrest, Major’s talent manager, Entertainment 360, and his publicity firm, The Lede Company, chose to part ways with him.

It was recently revealed at Comic-Con that Downey will rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying Doctor Doom in the movies “Avengers: Doomsday” (2026) and “Avengers: Secret Wars” (2017).
