God Of War Developer Sony Santa Monica Is Reportedly Working On A New IP

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of Sony Santa Monica unveiling their first new IP since the iconic God of War series in 2005! Having followed the studio’s evolution and their masterful crafting of Kratos’ epic saga, it’s safe to say that I’m eagerly anticipating what fresh, innovative gaming experience they have in store for us.

Sony Santa Monica is reportedly working on its first new IP since the God of War series in 2005.

Based on their LinkedIn profile, this individual rejoined Sony Santa Monica in a role as character supervisor, overseeing the entire character-development process for a new intellectual property (IP). Prior to this, they had experience working at both Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica, and later moved on to Striking Distance Studios where they contributed to The Callisto Protocol project and will be working with Unknown Worlds on the next installment of Subnautica.

Following the debut of God of War Ragnarok on both PS4 and PS5 in 2022, producer Cory Barlog hinted at multiple ongoing projects within the studio without offering any details. Additionally, rumors circulated that Sony Santa Monica had been developing an open-world sci-fi game, but this project was subsequently scrapped.

It appears that the new IP (innovative product) might not be released soon, considering Sony has announced no significant franchise games will debut before April 2025 at the very latest.

For now, God of War Ragnarok will be available for PC on September 19th. If you’re a PlayStation 5 user, there are more games to anticipate this year, such as Astro Bot, Concord, and Lego Horizon Adventures.
