Foundation Media Partners Inks First Look Deal With Simon & Schuster for Children’s Film and TV Projects (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for uncovering hidden gems within the pages of literature, I find myself thoroughly excited by this recent collaboration between Foundation Media Partners and Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing. With a background that includes adapting successful children’s book franchises like “Bad Guys” and “Thelma the Unicorn,” it seems that Foundation is poised to strike gold once more, delving into the vast library of stories spanning over a century.

Foundation Media Partners, a company specializing in entertainment brand management, has secured a preliminary agreement with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing. This deal allows them to create and broadcast film and TV productions, drawing inspiration from the rich archive of stories spanning over a hundred years that Simon & Schuster possesses.

The Foundation aims to create and tailor a range of stories from the Little Simon Chapter Books and Graphic Novels by Simon & Schuster, transforming them into either animated or live-action productions suitable for both movies and TV shows.

The team behind Simon & Schuster shares our enthusiasm for storytelling and developing franchises, just like we do at Foundation, and together we aim to set a new bar for how stories are told and enjoyed by young audiences,” noted Patrick Hughes, the founder and CEO of Foundation, who facilitated this groundbreaking agreement. “This unique arrangement grants us exclusive access and priority consideration to one of the world’s largest and most esteemed libraries, opening up a world of possibilities that are scarcely found.

Amy Wilson, Vice President of Development and Production at the Foundation, stated, “Every book we’ll collaborate on with Simon & Schuster will be unique yet retain the heart, humor, and sense of adventure that we aim to embody in our children’s projects. We’re really excited about this creative journey we’re embarking on together.

This agreement continues the trend of Foundation Media Partners’ success in transforming literary intellectual properties into films. They have previously adapted and produced the hit animated movie “Bad Guys”, derived from Aaron Blabey’s popular children’s book series, for Dreamworks Animation and Universal Pictures, and are currently overseeing the production of “Bad Guys 2” as executive producers. Moreover, they have also transformed Blabey’s “Thelma the Unicorn” book series into a feature film for Netflix.

The management firm responsible for branding is additionally driving the entertainment growth of Build-A-Bear, such as the Christmas animated movie “Glisten and the Merry Mission,” based on the popular holiday plush collection, which they released in cinemas through a direct agreement with Cinemark. At present, they are also working on the series “Kabu” in collaboration with their animation partner Laughing Dragon for production.

I’m excited to announce that we’re teaming up with Foundation Media! This collaboration allows us to breathe life into beloved characters and stories in innovative ways, offering our dedicated readers a fresh perspective. We strongly believe that quality content can flourish across various platforms, enhancing the storytelling experience on each one.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the ongoing negotiation with Simon & Schuster is just another exciting chapter in the bustling year for Foundation Media Partners. Not long ago, we sealed a deal to manage Varsity Spirit (a division of Varsity Brands) across various entertainment sectors. This new role empowers us to expand the influence of this brand through films, TV shows, music, live events, publishing, podcasts, documentaries, and hybrid content. It’s an incredible opportunity that I can’t wait to see unfold!
