With its global distribution deal and the star-studded cast led by Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch, this series promises a cat-and-mouse chase across Europe that will leave viewers breathless.


NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution has acquired distribution rights for the thriller “The Day of the Jackal,” featuring Eddie Redmayne, for almost 200 countries globally. The British debut of this series took place on Tuesday in London.

The show, which garnered significant attention at the L.A. Screenings in May, has since been purchased by international buyers.

These sales do not include regions such as the United States (where Peacock owns the rights), the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy (where Sky holds the rights).

In “The Day of the Jackal,” a solitary and exceptionally evasive assassin known as the Jackal (Redmayne) specializes in performing contracts for top dollar. However, after his last assignment, he finds himself up against a relentless British intelligence agent (Lashana Lynch), who embarks on a gripping game of cat-and-mouse across Europe, with devastation following in their path.

The American debut of this series will take place on Peacock on November 14, with the first five episodes airing initially, followed by new episodes each week. A double-episode finale (episodes nine and ten) is scheduled for December 12. Meanwhile, the series starts in the U.K. on Sky on November 7.

The writer and executive producer is Ronan Bennett. The other executive producers are Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant for Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios, Sue Naegle, director Brian Kirk and Redmayne.

Lynch shared the role of executive producer, while Chris Hall served as the regular producer. Frederick Forsyth provided consultancy in a producing capacity.

The main actors in this production were Redmayne, Lynch, and Úrsula Corberó, with Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara providing additional support.

The show was created by Carnival Films, a subsidiary of Universal International Studios, which is a branch of the Universal Studio Group.

At the U.K. debut, present were Cécile Frot-Coutaz, Sky Studios’ CEO and content chief; Neame, Marchant, and Kirk; along with Bennett. In attendance from Universal Studio Group were Beatrice Springborn, president of UCP and Universal International Studios, as well as Rob Howard, the CFO and executive VP at Universal International Studios.
