Crusader Kings 3 Brings Back Popular Mechanics from CK2. You Can Now Play Immortal „Demigod” Again

As a seasoned gamer with decades of strategy gaming under my belt, the return of immortality in Crusader Kings 3 is like finding a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. The allure of eternal power and youthful vigor has always been irresistible, and this time around, it seems more accessible than ever before.

Two days past, the strategic game “Crusader Kings 3” unveiled its third significant expansion titled “Roads to Power.” This expansion adds fresh content specifically for Byzantium, a region that has been a fan favorite. It’s worth noting that the figures don’t lie – during its debut hours, over 48,000 players were simultaneously engaged with the game, and it received nearly unanimously positive feedback.

Besides the newly introduced social progression system and the adventurer’s journey, there was also a familiar element from the past installments of the series that has made a return.

How does immortality work?

In the tenth expansion for the game “Crusader Kings 2,” titled “The Reaper’s Due,” the concept of “Immortality” was introduced. This expansion primarily revolved around the themes of inheritance and mortality, with a significant emphasis on enhancing the mechanics related to epidemics. Within this context, players were given an opportunity to achieve immortality for their character, which meant they wouldn’t age or fall ill.

Achieving the status of a semi-divine being proved to be quite challenging, requiring not just exceptional statistics but also an element of fortune when creating unpredictable supernatural occurrences.

Notably, after a prolonged period of reign, the ruler might acquire the characteristic labeled as “ruled for too long,” at which point the game provided an option for him to bring his life to a peaceful end.

Ruler until the end of his days

As a dedicated fan of Crusader Kings 3, I’ve noticed an exciting return of a feature that was present in its predecessor – the reemergence of immortality in the latest expansion! Just like before, this addition grants me eternal health and keeps my character looking young and vibrant.

In essence, the main distinction is how you obtain the attribute. Previously, in Crusader Kings 2, this privilege was limited to a select few. However, in the third installment, players have the freedom to select this feature while crafting a new character.

In simpler terms, it can be said that current rulers cannot acquire immortality spontaneously, and there’s no known method for doing so at present. Also, a character specifically designed as such won’t function within the game mode of Iron Man.

This, of course, doesn’t reduce the excitement of players who are already preparing the life stories of new characters.

I’ll design a character who is incredibly strong and immortal, yet won’t control him directly during his adventures. Instead, I’ll observe his journey from the sidelines, focusing on my own experiences concurrently.

Now, I can create an eternal, superlative ruler who desires nothing more than to establish a peaceful realm with no intention of expanding its boundaries. Cool!

Instead of using immortality’s return in Crusader Kings 3, do you prefer to stick with the conventional gameplay style, where the natural progression of life continues?
