Christopher Reeve’s Superman Films Get Amazon-Exclusive Steelbook Box Set

For many fans of Superman, the legendary portrayal by Christopher Reeve remains unmatched. Across four films, he left an indelible mark on the franchise. If you’re eager to revisit these classics, a unique and exclusive 5-Film Steelbook Library Case Box Set will be available on Amazon starting from September 2.

As I write this on July 18th, preorders for the item have not yet been launched. However, it is expected to become available soon. Rest assured, we’ll update this article as soon as it becomes purchasable, but be prepared – it might sell out quickly!

In this set, you’ll find two renditions of Superman 2. The narrative behind this duality stems from creative disagreements and financial worries, leading to the original director of Superman, Richard Donner, being replaced by Richard Lester during the sequel production. Later on, Donner’s version was released, often praised as the superior one due to its richer storytelling and added depth.

This set includes five movies in 4K Ultra HD quality with HDR10, offering multiple audio options such as Dolby Atmos, TrueHD 7.1, and Master Audio 2.0. Additionally, it comes packed with a variety of extra features. These bonus items are housed on the standard Blu-ray discs for each movie. You’ll find documentaries, commentaries, TV specials, and more in this collection. For a complete list of these bonus features, please refer to the bottom of this article.

The five-film collection featuring Superman can also be purchased in a standard edition for $75. While you won’t find steelbook cases or collector’s tins, this set still offers both 4K and 1080p versions of the same movies along with special features.

It can be a bit challenging to locate individual Superman films in 4K Blu-ray format. As of now, only the 1978 Superman movie is currently in stock on Amazon, and it’s offered at a discounted price of $15 (originally $34).

You could team this item with the upcoming preorder for the latest Superman movie, as not only does it offer an enjoyable film that continues the tradition of the character, but the steelbook edition complements the Reeve collection beautifully. At the moment, the Steelbook Edition is out of stock, but it’s expected to be restocked before the launch date.
