BTC Stalls at $66K

Since last weekend, Bitcoin‘s attempt to surpass the $72,000 barrier has met with unfavorable results. At the start of this week, the cryptocurrency experienced a significant price drop, causing it to plummet from around $70,000 down to under $66,500.

An unpleasant turn of events occurred when Bitcoin dipped down to a 10-day low of $64,400 the following day. The bulls managed to step in and reverse the trend, resulting in a significant jump up to $67,000. However, the price increase was halted at this level.

A rejection for an additional $1,000 occurred, but Bitcoin now hovers around the $66,000 mark. This results in a market capitalization of approximately $1.3 trillion for Bitcoin, with its dominance staying steady at 49.6% on CoinGecko.

BCH Goes on the Offensive

Bitcoin Cash has recently made headlines due to its upcoming halving, an highly-anticipated event that was initially scheduled for early April. However, this event experienced some setbacks and eventually happened a few hours ago. Consequently, the number of Bitcoins Cash rewarded per block has been reduced from 12.5 to 6.25.

In the last week or so, the buzz surrounding the halving event caused the price of BCH to rise significantly. Yesterday saw a large drop, but BCH has bounced back strongly today butting heads with the $670 mark after a 10% increase.

Among the larger-cap alts in the green, BNB is the other noteworthy one, registering a 3.5% increase. Conversely, the remaining top 15 are displaying negative figures, with SOL, DOGE, DOT, and ICP taking the lead in the red.

The cryptocurrency market’s total value remains close to what it was the previous day, hovering around $2.6 trillion on CoinMarketCap.
