As a seasoned Battlefield veteran with countless hours under my belt and a collection of virtual dog tags to show for it, I must say that the B-tier weapons are like old friends who still got it but have a few extra wrinkles nowadays. They can handle the job just fine, it’s just that the A-tier guns seem to be in better shape and ready for action at a moment’s notice.
In simpler terms, the creators of Battlefield 2042 have declared that Season 7 is the last significant update for the game. While you might notice minor updates regarding maintenance and game mode changes, there won’t be any substantial new content to come. Additionally, there are no plans for weapon balance adjustments, which means this guns tier list for Battlefield 2042 should remain as it is now.
Battlefield 2042 Weapons Tier List
I’ve categorized the weapons into five distinct groups, labeled S, A, B, C, and D, in descending order of quality. These groups contain firearms from various categories which I believe should be classified according to the given description.
- S-tier: God-tier, meta weapons that can beat all other weapons when used within their proposed limit (i.e., SMG for close-range).
- A-tier: Excellent choices that can compete with god-tier weapons in the hands of the right player.
- B-tier: Good guns that are fun to use but outshined by their top-tier counterparts.
- C-tier: These weapons are just there in the game but aren’t competitive enough to be recommended.
- D-tier: The worst of the bunch that are outright useless and you’ll be better off staying away from these.
S-tier Weapons Battlefield 2042

With the standard equipment, you can overpower opponents with ease since these weapons boast a swift time-to-kill (TTK) and manageable recoil. I could have included additional weapons in the S-tier category, but I opted to feature only the top-notch ones here. If your preferred weapon isn’t on this list, it may appear in the A-tier section. Feel free to select any weapon from the table below; as long as you have good aim and strategic game sense, you should be in good shape.

In Battlefield 2042, Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns generally belong to the top two categories due to their versatility. These weapon classes are not only fully automatic but also enjoyable for most players. Moreover, I’ve incorporated some exceptional Shotguns (Tactical), Designated Marksman Rifles (DMRs), and Sniper Rifles that can compete with the elite S-tier ones.

I find a certain pleasure in using mid-tier firearms occasionally. They’re effective against enemies, but higher-tier weapons offer more potent alternatives.

As a gamer, I’ve got to say, the old-school Assault Rifles and LMGs from past games just can’t keep up with their counterparts in Battlefield 2042. It’s not that they’re entirely useless, but their Time-to-Kill (TTK) is poor, their control is average, and the visual recoil shake is overwhelming. So, if you’re looking to compete at the top level, these classic Battlefield weapons might not be your best bet. But hey, when I’m tired of using the ‘meta’, it’s always fun to take a trip down memory lane and give these old guns a spin.

In the lower tier, I’ve grouped weapons that my fellow Battlefield players and I find ineffective. These weapons, such as the GVT 45-70 Tactical and SVD DMR, aren’t enjoyable to use in my experience since it’s challenging to secure kills or hit targets with them. While you can still utilize the RPK-74M and TYPE 88 LMGs, there are generally better options available for you to select.
