The Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.06 Patch adds the following content to the game:

  • A free quest called “A Critical Encounter”, in collaboration with Critical Role.
    • Features a new Ally to recruit, new trophy/achievement, and hideout banner
    • Questline begins in the Hideout after completing “Way of the Blacksmith” and unlocking Yasuke.
    • *Critical Role Pack
      • New Tanto & Katana for Naoe
      • New Teppo & Kanabo for Yasuke
  • New Nightmare Difficulty Setting

*indicates that a purchase is required

As an avid fan, I find myself immersed in the thrilling narrative of the Critical Role Quest. In this captivating tale, Naoe and Yasuke are tasked with aiding Rufino to thwart a clandestine group that has been employing assassins to eliminate influential figures. Following the successful completion of “The Way of the Blacksmith” and unveiling Yasuke’s presence, this gripping quest can be unlocked at The Hideout.

Additionally, the creators have incorporated a fresh “Nightmare Mode” of difficulty. As per the developer’s updates, you can anticipate the following alterations in this level of challenge:

  • Less effective player defensive options, and greater damage dealt by enemies at all levels.
    • E.g., Parries require perfect timing to deflect the attack – imperfect parries only partially block incoming damage.
  • Smarter, faster, and more aggressive enemy AI:
    • Naoe generates sound when moving and can be detected if moving in the Shadows.
    • Enemies no longer become vulnerable from dodges or parries. Only abilities put foes into a vulnerable state.
  • Limited number of available Combat Resources

In addition to other updates, now you have the option to adjust your headgear in cutscenes. Except for certain scenes such as romantic ones, you can wear your chosen headgear in any part of the game. So, if you’ve acquired some impressive gear during a mission or exploration, don’t hesitate to sport it in cutscenes to enhance your badass appearance. This applies to dialogue sequences as well.

Additionally, you now have the option to toggle/switch specific Visual Effect (VFX) settings. This means, if you’re already skilled at dodging and parrying enemies, you can choose to turn off the Parry & Attack Indicators for a smoother gameplay experience. Moreover, when it comes to adjustments in visuals and controls, you can also select from among three distinct camera settings while riding on horseback.

In addition, the developers incorporated a fresh graphic quality setting dubbed as Ultra Low Mode. This feature is intended to enhance the gaming experience for users with modest graphics processing units (GPUs) by offering smoother frame rates.

To wrap things up, the recent update significantly modifies the Regional Warning Mechanism. Repeated attacks on civilians or military forces outside Castles may set off this system. If it does, a band of Protectors will pursue you.
