Assassin's Creed Shadows May Launch with Online Mode. It Hasn't Been Present in the Series for Over a Decade

As a seasoned Assassin’s Creed player with over a decade of experience under my belt, I must admit that the news about the potential co-op mode in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has me both thrilled and slightly skeptical. While I’ve enjoyed the series’ multiplayer modes in the past, their popularity among players hasn’t always been overwhelming. However, if Ubisoft manages to get it right this time around, with Naoe and Yasuke’s unique abilities adding a fresh twist to the cooperative gameplay, we could be looking at a real game-changer.

According to recent insights into the rumored production hold-ups of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Tom Henderson Reveals New Details concerning the cooperative gameplay feature in the upcoming “Assassin” title.

  • The project is said to be developed under the code name League.
  • Co-op is reportedly coming to the game after the premiere.
  • When exactly will it launch? It is not known, because due to the delay of AC: Shadows‘ debut – from November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025 – the release of all projects related to the series has been delayed. Tom Henderson, however, assumes that we will see this co-op only 18 months later.
  • As you may have already guessed, and as Henderson suspects, the co-op mode in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will likely enable 2 players to control Naoe and Yasuke simultaneously, utilizing their varying abilities, etc. during missions.

It’s worth noting that if Ubisoft’s reports about the cooperative mode in AC: Shadows are true, it won’t be the first game in the series to offer a shared experience with friends. In fact, co-op was available in AC: Unity, although it wasn’t widely embraced by players. However, multiplayer modes have been featured in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Assassin’s Creed III, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

If Tom Henderson’s claims are true, we’ll see Ubisoft introducing network gameplay to the Assassin’s Creed series for the first time in over a decade. This could be a new trend, although it seems likely that there may be more network-based games in the series’ future, given the credibility of recent whispers about Assassin’s Creed: Invictus.

The debut of the video game titled “AC: Shadows” has been planned for February 14, 2025. It will be available to play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
