Adin Ross calls for stricter Kick bans but says Twitch used to be worse

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. The recent incidents at Kick, especially during TwitchCon San Diego 2024, have left me utterly dismayed. It seems like we’ve taken a step back in time to the Wild West days of streaming, where anything goes and consequences are few.

Adin Ross advocates for stricter penalties against disrespectful streamers on Kick, acknowledging that Ludwig’s assessments of the platform were accurate. However, he also points out that Twitch had similar issues in the past.

2024’s TwitchCon San Diego ignited a passionate debate over conduct on the platform, as multiple streamers were observed bullying and even hurting fellow broadcasters during the event, raising concerns about acceptable behavior on the site.

For instance, Kick streamer DBR kissed and licked Twitch stars nmplol and Wake Wilder, while another pushed a broadcaster into a moving train during an argument.

Online influencers are urging for modifications within Kick, as they find fault with certain actions taken by the platform. Although Kick has suspended the problematic broadcasters, even its top-tier entertainer feels that this action falls short of addressing the issue adequately.

During a live broadcast on September 25th, influential streamer Adin Ross expressed his concerns about the platform Kick, stating that he’s been urging them to enforce stronger penalties against creators exhibiting inappropriate behavior.

To be more precise, he shares similar sentiments as YouTube celebrity Ludwig, who had criticized Kick in the past, referring to it as a host for “problematic streamers” following the commotion at TwitchCon.

Ross acknowledged that Ludwig’s statement holds complete validity. Feel free to express your frustration towards Ludwig within this conversation if you wish, but remember he’s correct. However, consider the growth of Twitch when it first began. It didn’t become the platform we know today overnight. People were engaging in some truly extraordinary activities on Twitch a decade ago as well.

“I strongly believe that individuals who post inappropriate content should be immediately suspended or banned. Unfortunately, my recommendations for moderation are often ignored, which I find quite frustrating. I will continue to voice my concerns until they are addressed.

Adin Ross expresses that there seems to be limited freedom of speech on the platform Kick, and he aligns with Ludwig’s viewpoint that Kick should swiftly ban inappropriate behavior. 😲

In response, Kick has dealt with the concerned streamers. Nonetheless, CEO Eddie Craven wants viewers to understand that the behavior of these few users does not represent the overall nature of the platform.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but express my awe over TwitchCon – an extraordinary gathering where creators from all corners gather under one roof. It’s truly heartening to be part of this community, thanks to Twitch for providing us with such an opportunity. Unfortunately, the actions of some may not align with the platform’s values, but it’s essential to remember that these instances don’t define the entire community. Regrettably, multiple accounts have been suspended due to violations.

Despite the defense, criticisms against Kick have been escalating due to multiple questionable actions by certain broadcasters, such as Johnny Somali, who served jail time in Japan for his on-air activities within the nation.
