As a gamer, navigating Shadow Labyrinth begins with conquering the colossal tree in the sky, often referred to as the Sky-High Tree. This is one of the initial challenges requiring considerable movement skills if you’re accustomed to Metroidvania games. The labyrinth is filled with numerous paths leading to secondary rooms and optional areas, which can be beneficial for resource gathering. However, these intricate pathways can also lead to disorientation. To add to the challenge, the game map isn’t always straightforward, and you might overlook doors and ledges crucial for the main objective.
If you’re struggling with navigating the lofty Tree sections, don’t worry. Here’s a simplified guide on how to traverse the Grand Tree within the Shadow Labyrinth, leading to a climactic battle that grants you a valuable new skill for further progression.
How to get through the Great Tree in Shadow Labyrinth
After overcoming Orange G-HOST: Garbage Talos and transforming into GAIA form using the G-Phase Shift, you will gain entry to the Great Tree region. Initially, this area follows a straightforward path. However, as you move eastward, it’s crucial to learn the behaviors of the numerous new enemies you’ll encounter along the way.
Just a heads-up, the guide features images of map sections following extensive exploration, so don’t be alarmed if your own map varies. Remember, as mentioned earlier, there are numerous optional locations you can pass over for the time being.
On your eastern journey, you’ll reach a spot where an elevator awaits, guiding you below ground. Remember to trigger the Miku Sol for a save point, just in case you need to retrace your steps later. As you descend, you’ll eventually stumble upon a peculiar character who offers a beneficial fighting ability.
Starting from this point, you’ll move along a straight path that goes vertically downwards. You’ll encounter two directions to choose from – west or east. To follow the main path, which is our focus here, opt for the eastward direction. This area is filled with adversaries and novel bouncy platforms. While you may run into new types of enemies, many of them will be familiar as they hail from the starting zone.
When you find yourself on the map’s west side, it’s time to ascend your journey. The Miku Sol checkpoint will serve as our guidepost. From there, navigate through the jumping platforms, either eliminating or evading the airborne pests (bugs and flowers) that you encounter. Upon reaching the peak, you’ll once more be faced with a choice of two routes. If you consult the map, the western path will lead you directly to the starting point where the lift is situated. You may break down the barrier there to create a shortcut and reuse the checkpoint. Subsequently, retrace your steps back down and select the other path.
Following the eastern route will guide you through narrow passages teeming with spiky adversaries. Proceed cautiously, defeating them one at a time, and continue your progression. Eventually, you’ll gain access to another D-Line, transforming you into the traditional Pac-Man shape. From here on out, the path is quite straightforward. At the end, you’ll notice a path veering to the right. Be sure to choose that route rather than heading left towards an optional area.
Starting ahead, you’ll come across a door inviting you to proceed. Go through it, and you’ll find yourself in the rear section of the towering tree. The route is simple, with just two elevators required for your entire journey. At present, one elevator remains inaccessible, but there’s an optional path on the right side of the vertical region that you can disregard for now.
As a gamer traversing this virtual world, I make my way to the Miku Sol checkpoint, catapulting myself into the Verdant Shadow Path. From here, I follow the winding D-Line eastward, bracing for some thrilling acrobatics as it guides me upward. The D-Line serves as my compass, leading me forward through this expansive area teeming with enemies. To stay safe, I tread carefully, taking each step with caution to dodge incoming attacks and potential pitfalls. At the summit, I’ll find myself at a crossroads; the main path lies to my left, but I should seize the opportunity to grab the checkpoint hidden to my right before moving on.
To proceed, follow the path to your left, which generally leads forward. There’s a detour that briefly takes you upward, but feel free to bypass it. Soon enough, you’ll be back outside. Keep going along the paths until you come across wooden structures. Use large vines for climbing up until you reach the eastern area. Then, simply jump down to the ground and carry on moving to your left.
To reach a lengthy wooden construction featuring a midsection gap, employ the vines once more. Upon reaching it, leap onto the right side and confront any adversaries you meet along the way. This route takes you to another Miku Sol checkpoint that’s vital for your progress. As this path includes a boss battle resulting in an additional HP-Tank, a comprehensive guide is available elsewhere. In essence, continue moving eastward and get ready for a boss confrontation.
Once you’ve completed your task, utilize the vine located on the right side of the structure to ascend all the way to the top. Now it’s time for you to proceed to the most westerly corner of the region. Be mindful when making jumps to avoid any mishaps. An enemy gauntlet will appear along your path, signifying that you’re on the correct track. After completing this section, use the structures around you to help you climb higher, eventually reaching the upper area.
Luckily, the way forward should be clear from here. There’s merely one route leading to your right. If you happen to encounter a gargoyle, which seems active only at night, feel free to bypass it. Soon enough, you’ll meet Night Gale, a colossal creature that will demand your attention in an upcoming boss battle.
Initially, trigger the Miku Sol checkpoint. Once prepared, engage in combat with Night Gale who, upon defeat, grants you the skill to jump and dodge simultaneously. Now, proceed along the route to the right from the activated checkpoint.
As I navigate my path, I skillfully dodge the spikes and clutch onto vines for support as I descend. Upon reaching the bottom, I continue to the right, and lo and behold, there lies the Torn Lands before me. Kudos to me for successfully conquering the Sky-high Tree area!
