In a touching video trending on TikTok, a mother unexpectedly presented her 14-year-old Twitch streaming son with his initial earnings check from the platform, leaving both of them teary-eyed.
As a devoted enthusiast, I’m witnessing a surge in popularity for live streaming as trailblazers such as IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat carve out their niche in the limelight of mainstream entertainment.
Drawing massive interest from passionate fans, securing lucrative partnerships with big brands, and even mingling with high-profile celebrities, the lifestyle of a streamer is quite glamorous. It seems that an increasing number of children are aspiring to become content creators instead of choosing careers as doctors or lawyers when they grow up.
Families are increasingly supporting their children’s aspirations for live streaming, like a mom who recently posted a video of her son receiving his initial earnings from Twitch.

On the 17th of July, 2025, TikTok user ‘Alma M’ posted a video on TikTok where she is seen picking up her son’s earnings from Twitch, which had been delivered to their mailbox.
Twitch praises 14-year-old streamer for first paycheck
It’s been a mere two months since she disclosed that her son, AJ, started streaming, and remarkably, within those short 60 days, he had achieved Affiliate status.
On Twitch, a streamer earns the status when they fulfill specific conditions. For instance, they need to have amassed at least 50 followers, broadcasted for a minimum of eight hours, transmitted content on no less than seven distinct days, and maintain an average of at least three viewers.
She expressed her great pride in him,” she said. “Given his incredible dedication, I’m eager to find out the size of his earnings. Perhaps he could treat me for a manicure.
Following her retrieval of the check from the postbox, she seated AJ at the dining table and summoned the remainder of the household, eager to witness him opening the envelope. This moment was met with a burst of applause and a heartfelt embrace, celebrating his dedication.
The total amount ended up being $97.15 — not bad for one of a teenager’s first jobs!
Audience members were equally awed by AJ’s work ethic, as evident in a comment that read: “Wow, that initial investment of $97 multiplied into $9,700! Kudos to him!
“Copy it, frame it, and hang it up in his room. Keep going kid!” another said.
The video also caught Twitch’s attention, prompting them to leave a comment saying: “This is just the start. Well done!
Within a day’s time, I’ve seen an incredible response on my TikTok with over 3.5 million views! This overwhelming support has motivated AJ and me to create another video expressing our gratitude to all of you.
AJ expressed, “I’ve gone through every comment,” he shared. “Your affection and encouragement mean a lot to me, as well as the new followers I’ve gained on Twitch.
Additionally, he and his mother spoke directly to parents worried about the safety of their children while streaming online. AJ clarified the stringent ban system that Twitch employs for inappropriate content.
Alma told a commenter, “He sets his own timetable, and he even edits his own videos. It’s clear that he takes this seriously!
Through his dedicated effort and his mom’s viral video, AJ has amassed 2.2K followers so far. On Twitch, AJ enjoys streaming a mix of games such as Roblox, Clash Royale, Fortnite, and the occasional “Just Chatting” broadcast.
It may seem unexpected to some that AJ earns money through streaming at such a tender age, but Twitch enables individuals as young as 13 to establish an account and begin broadcasting.
