As a lifelong Marvel enthusiast and avid gamer, I can hardly contain my excitement for the new Marvel Rivals maps announced by NetEase Games! The Klyntar: Symbiote Surface map, with its unique environmental mechanics and Living Symbiosis, sounds like an absolute game-changer.
NetEase Games, creators of Marvel Rivals, have confirmed that a number of fresh maps are on their way to the multiplayer PvP shooter game featuring superheroes. These new locations were initially teased in the latest Developer Vision update, where they showcased trailer previews for the HYDRA Charteris Base: Hell’s Heaven map and now another one as well.
In the most recent Map Trailer Reveal, we’ll soon encounter the Klyntar: Symbiote Surface map. Although an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, the trailer hinted at a potential character related to the map or something ambiguous, as speculated by online conversations.
In late November 2024, NetEase Games published their Developer Vision Vol. 2 video, featuring discussions about key gameplay elements and content to be introduced both at launch and post-launch. Besides elaborating on the game’s Anti-Cheat mechanisms, hero balances, and improvements, they unveiled some upcoming maps that will debut during Season 0.
Feeling the disturbance caused by the Timestream Entanglement, Knull draws upon Chronovium to disseminate his malevolent deity across the pantheon and break free from his captivity on the planet Klyntar.

One of the recently unveiled maps is the Klyntar: Symbiote Surface, a Convergence map featuring engaging environmental dynamics where players can manipulate the environment, alter it, and construct new buildings. This “Dynamic Symbiosis” is further delved into in the latest Map Reveal video, which has ignited conversation due to a hint dropped at approximately 1 minute into the video.
In simpler terms, some gamers are discussing and guessing that the creature shown at the end of the trailer could possibly be Knull, the Symbiote deity, who might show up somewhere within the game map. Another popular theory circulating online hints that it could just be an object or package that players need to move or secure based on their objectives in the level.
In light of Venom’s recent announcement about a new skin and the social media teaser for the Klyntar: Symbiote Surface map, it seems plausible that Knull, the God of Symbiotes, is not yet fully revived. The symbiote in the trailer could potentially serve as the payload.
