As a movie enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of many child stars, I can’t help but admire Lindsay Lohan‘s audacity at such a young age. At just 12 years old, she had the wit and guts to fire back at the CEO of Disney, Michael Eisner, during the world premiere of “The Parent Trap.” It’s not every day you see a kid playing double roles in a movie, let alone grilling the boss for not paying double!
During her promotional tour for the upcoming Netflix Christmas film “Our Little Secret”, Lindsay Lohan shared an amusing story on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live”. As a 12-year-old, she had playfully retorted to the Disney CEO during the world premiere of “The Parent Trap” in 1998.
In the movie “The Parent Trap,” Lindsay Lohan portrayed two characters, Hallie “Hal” James Parker and Annie “Ann” James Parker, who were twins. At the film’s premiere, Disney CEO Michael Eisner approached Lohan and inquired, “Where’s your twin?” It’s unclear whether Eisner was joking or merely oblivious to the fact that Lohan played both roles. Regardless, Lohan did not hesitate to challenge the executive about his oversight.
Back then, I was so young that it’s hard for me to remember where the idea came from, but something I said will always stick with me. I told them, ‘If you had offered me twice as much, I wouldn’t have taken it because I don’t own one.’
Lindsay Lohan disclosed that “The Parent Trap” was the sole occasion when she auditioned for a movie. This 1998 comedy classic marked Lohan’s breakthrough performance, and she has expressed her willingness to reprise the role as long as director and co-writer Nancy Meyers remains involved in the project.
If Nancy Meyers were involved, I’d certainly consider it,” I expressed when queried about returning for a ‘Parent Trap’ sequel or reboot. “I wouldn’t refuse the opportunity to work with Nancy.
Although a new “Parent Trap” isn’t planned, Lindsay Lohan is going back to her Disney past by teaming up with Jamie Lee Curtis for the upcoming sequel of “Freaky Friday,” titled “Freakier Friday.” They filmed it during summer, and Lohan said it made her feel young again as she shared in an interview with ABC’s “Nightline.
For me, it was particularly special when I stepped onto the Disney lot,” Lohan expressed. “Being back on the Disney lot wasn’t just a reminder of ‘Freaky Friday,’ it was also ‘The Parent Trap,’ ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,’ and ‘Herbie.’ It brought back so many memories for me. When I arrived, I felt like a child again, reconnecting with those cherished moments.
She expressed her heartfelt gratitude for each moment and second of it, stating that she was back on the lot. The emotions welling up within her were almost too much, making it a truly memorable experience.
