‘Gavin & Stacey: The Finale’ Unveils First Look as James Corden and Ruth Jones Reunite for Final Time

As a die-hard fan who has followed the hilarious antics of Gavin & Stacey since its inception back in 2007, I can hardly contain my excitement at the sight of this first look image! The return of Smithy, Nessa, Gavin, and Stacey is like a long-lost friend knocking on your door with a box of your favorite chocolates.

As a passionate fan of “Gavin & Stacey,” I can hardly contain my excitement as the BBC offers a sneak peek into the much-anticipated reunion special!

The image presents the main four actors from the series: James Corden, Ruth Jones, Matthew Horne, and Joanna Page.

For the upcoming special, Corden reprises his role as Smithy, Jones takes on Nessa, Horne plays Gavin, and Page portrays Stacey. This show, initially created by Corden and Jones, first aired in 2007 before gaining a devoted fanbase as a cult classic.

Corden and Jones are responsible for writing and executive producing a 90-minute special that will air on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK on Christmas Day. This special is directed by Christine Gernon.

Five years have passed since Nessa proposed to Smithy, and much has changed since that moment. In Barry, Bryn is preparing the Picasso for a journey to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are seeking novel methods to reinvigorate their seventeen-year-old marriage, while Gwen’s behavior has become quite peculiar. Nessa has embarked on a new business endeavor, and Neil, the Baby, is preparing to start an apprenticeship with his father.

In Billericay, Pam finds herself overwhelmed with anxiety about hosting guests. This is compounded by Mick, who recently retired, perfecting his golf strokes within their living room. Additionally, Pete and Dawn’s relationship has seen its fair share of highs and lows.

This special is created by the combined efforts of Tidy and Fulwell73 productions, airing on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. Sarah Fraser serves as the producer. The executive producers are Ruth Jones, Rhys John, and David Peet from Tidy Productions, while James Corden, Leo Pearlman, and Ben Winston hold those roles for Fulwell73 Productions.

I had the privilege of being commissioned by BBC’s Chief Content Officer, Charlotte Moore, and BBC’s Director of Comedy Commissioning, Jon Petrie. It was under the guidance of the commissioning editor for the BBC, Emma Lawson, that this project came to life.

BBC Studios is handling international distribution.
