Benito Skinner Teases Charli XCX’s Guest Role on His New Series ‘Overcompensating’: It’s ‘Not What You’d Expect’

As a veteran movie enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless stars, I can confidently say that Charli XCX is truly breaking boundaries in the entertainment industry. Having followed her music career for years, I never imagined she would venture into acting, let alone excel at it so swiftly.

Benito Skinner reminisced about Charli XCX’s guest appearance on his forthcoming comedy series “Overcompensating,” describing it as absolutely wild or incredibly eccentric.

Skinner shared with me at the GQ Men of the Year party on November 14th in Los Angeles that he was incredibly proud of her. She was outstanding on set, leaving everyone awestruck. What made it even more impressive was that she managed to excel in ‘Overcompensating’ while simultaneously touring globally and performing for the Sweat tour. We feel incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our show.

Prior to the unveiling of her role in the Amazon series last October, it became known that the popular songwriter, known as the “Brat”, was set to compose new music for the show. This series focuses on the university life of a former high school football player and homecoming king (Skinner), with Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah as main cast members. Notable actors such as Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, Julia Shiplett, Tommy Do, Alexandra Beaton, Claire Qute, Elias Azimi, and Maddie Phillips appear in recurring roles.

Skinner hinted at an unexpected twist in Charli XCX’s show for the series. He further mentioned that her fans and viewers will undoubtedly appreciate it.

As of now, no specific release date has been announced for ‘Overcompensating’, but as per Skinner, we can expect it to air quite soon.

Apart from “Overcompensating,” Charli XCX’s upcoming acting roles involve three films: the suspenseful film “I Want Your Sex” directed by Gregg Araki, featuring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman; a remake of the 1978 classic “Faces of Death,” helmed by Daniel Goldhaber, starring Barbie Ferreira; and the adaptation of the graphic novel “100 Nights of Hero” directed by Julia Jackman, featuring Emma Corrin and Maika Monroe.
