The Weeknd’s ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ Film With Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan Lands at Lionsgate

As a die-hard fan of The Weeknd, I can hardly contain my excitement about his upcoming film “Hurry Up Tomorrow”. Having grown up listening to his music and watching him evolve into an icon, it’s mind-blowing to see him venture into the world of cinema.

The film titled ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ starring The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) will be distributed globally in cinemas by Lionsgate. This musically-infused psychological thriller also features Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, with Trey Edward Shults (‘Waves’) directing.

The movie was jointly produced by Tesfaye’s Manic Phase, Reza Fahim, the late Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss. It is overseen by Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and Harrison Huffman in executive production roles.

The movie shares its name with The Weeknd’s upcoming album, both scheduled for release at a later date. The Weeknd himself has contributed to the film’s soundtrack along with Daniel Lopatin.

Chayse Irvin is the cinematographer, while Erin Benach and Hannah Jacobs handle the costumes, and Elliott Hostetter oversees the set design.

Adam Fogelson, head of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, described Abel as an innovative artist whose work transcends traditional mediums. With ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow,’ in collaboration with Trey, Abel’s musical realm moves to the big screen for a psychological thriller that promises a fresh, immersive cinematic journey for fans. We are excited to share this production with audiences globally.

Tomorrow’s Rush” concludes The Weeknd’s trilogy of studio albums, coming after the successes of “Dawn FM” (2022) and “After Hours” (2020). This third installment in the series represents the closing chapter, filled with themes that delve into existential and self-reflective ideas.

In the year 2023, music sensation The Weeknd, known for selling over 75 million albums, collaborated on and appeared in a television series titled “The Idol” alongside Lily-Rose Depp.

Deadline was first to report the news.
