‘Black Mirror’ Star Samuel Blenkin, ‘House of the Dragon’s’ Emily Carey to Lead Indie Feature ‘Misper’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a soft spot for dark comedies, I must say that the casting of Samuel Blenkin and Emily Carey in “Misper” has me genuinely intrigued. The blend of suspense, humor, and the psychological impact on characters resonates deeply with my personal taste in cinema.

As a seasoned movie critic, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve learned “Black Mirror’s” Samuel Blenkin and the captivating Emily Carey from “House of the Dragon” will take center stage in an upcoming independent film titled “Misper.” This intriguing cast selection has me eagerly anticipating this production.

The movie titled “Misper” is a quirky, humorous take on the story of Leonard Lowry (played by Blenkin) and his coworkers who are grappling with the mysterious vanishing act of their acquaintance Elle Pritchard (portrayed by Carey).

At a struggling beachfront hotel, the disappearance of colleague Elle Pritchard throws everyone’s life into chaos. Instead of focusing on the investigation or the culprit in typical missing person dramas, this story delves into the heart-wrenching and humorously dark consequences for Elle’s co-workers as they grapple with her absence.

“Mis-per” is a portmanteau for “missing person.”

In the upcoming movie, Christine Bottomley (“Sherwood”) plays Pam Shade, Daniel Ryan (“The Bay” ) portrays Gary Jenkins, and Oliver Ryan (“Dune Part One”) is Roy Pritchard. Additionally, Sunil Patel, Rosalind Adler, Iona Champain, and Jordan Brookes are also part of the cast. The film, now completed, was filmed on location in Folkestone, U.K.

Harry Sheriff directs in his feature debut. Laurence Tratalos wrote the screenplay.

Blenkin remarked that he was immediately captivated by ‘Misper’s’ outstanding screenplay, skillfully blending chilling realism and dark humor in a compelling manner. He appreciates it when a movie doesn’t rely on comedy but rather employs it to amplify the emotional impact of the narrative. ‘Misper’, in his opinion, is brimming with such moments, culminating in an exceptional first effort.

Fresh Orange Productions,” a company founded by Tratalos, Sherriff, and Simon Orange in the year 2023, is responsible for creating “Misper.

In collaboration with Fresh Orange, Tratalos contributes, while Tom Leatherbarrow works for Oskein; both alongside Carl Mason. Verity Naughton took on the role of director, with Bart Bazaz handling cinematography duties. Violette De Laet was in charge of production design, Lily Faith Knight handled costumes, and Andy Sowerby edited the film.

Blenkin is represented by Insight Management & Production as well as Circle Management + Production, while Carey is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA), Curtis Brown, and Stride Management.
