As a film enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the industry and its impact on society, I find myself consistently inspired by the stories of resilience and compassion that unfold both on and off-screen. Zoe Saldaña‘s journey is no exception. Her speech at EbMaster’s Power of Women ceremony was a testament to her commitment to using her platform for good, and it resonated deeply with me.
At the EbMaster’s Power of Women event, hosted by Lifetime, I (as a movie enthusiast) had the privilege to witness Zoe Saldaña delivering a heartfelt speech that left quite an impact on me and the audience.
It’s a tremendous honor to be present today surrounded by so many extraordinary women. Sharing the stage with Carol Burnett, Amy Adams, Bela Bajaria feels incredibly privileged. This evening, I stand here in the company of all of you, and I’m consistently inspired by each one of you. In her speech, Saldaña acknowledged her fellow Power of Women honorees, expressing her admiration. She emphasized that every woman present had been brought into this world by another woman, and moments like these, where we can unite and support one another, are uniquely powerful.
Saldaña, known as the box office queen with a impressive resume that includes three of the highest-grossing films ever made – “Avatar,” “Avengers: Endgame” and the upcoming “Avatar: The Way of Water” – was honored alongside Adams, Burnett, Netflix’s Bajaria, and Sarah Hyland, who received the EbMaster Courage Award. The glamorous event was overseen by Leslie Jones, an Emmy-nominated actor and comedian.
At last Thursday’s event in Los Angeles, Zoe Saldana supported Baby2Baby, a charity that distributes essential items like diapers, formula, clothes, and cribs to impoverished children nationwide. Saldana became involved with the organization due to the determination of co-CEOs Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein, and she now serves as one of their Angel ambassadors. The cause is particularly meaningful to her because she has three sons.
Saldaña expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein, the visionaries behind Baby2Baby. He feels privileged to be a part of amplifying the organization’s mission. He referred to them as an inspiring pair, stating that their work significantly improves the lives of struggling families and provides essential items for underprivileged children nationwide.
Saldaña commended the Baby2Baby organization as a “symbol of hope,” emphasizing the strong community built by Patricof and Weinstein, who have provided more than 450 million crucial items to families during the past 13 years.
Working side by side, these two women demonstrate that when individuals unite with a common purpose of assisting others, there’s no limit to what they can achieve,” Saldaña pointed out. “Their heartfelt kindness, selflessness, and commitment to bettering the world are a striking example of the transformative power one person can wield when motivated by altruism.
Before stepping onto the stage, Saldaña was presented by Benicio del Toro, who starred alongside her as The Collector when she played Gamora in “Guardians of the Galaxy.
