As a die-hard Bleach fan with over two decades of following this magnificent series, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and melancholy as we approach Episode 29. The tease of Ukitake’s flashback, with ten minutes of non-manga scenes, has me intrigued like never before!
In the upcoming third part of TYBW, bleach is expected to incorporate additional scenes that are not based on manga, before it says goodbye to one of its dearest characters by depicting these events.
In the third part of Bleach’s TYBW, the battle against Yhwach, the Quincy King, carries on. The 28th episode of the animated series shows a momentary skirmish between Ichigo and the ultimate antagonist. Yet, matters take an unexpected turn when the Stand-in Soul Reaper inadvertently slays the Soul King due to instinctive actions.
The Soul King’s life sustains harmony across the three dimensions. Not surprisingly, the instant he perishes, the world teeters on the edge of ruin. Yet, amidst this turmoil, Episode 29 promises to delve into Ukitake’s past memories.
The leaks indicate that the initial part of this episode will present a flashback featuring the character Ukitake, and approximately ten minutes of the scenes will deviate from the original manga. If you’re curious about why the anime is emphasizing on Ukitake, it’s because his role becomes significant in the Final Arc.

Fans who have only watched anime might not realize this, but Ukitake makes a selfless sacrifice during the Kamikake ritual. He does this in an effort to take the Soul King’s place and save the world. In typical anime fashion, when a beloved character is about to leave, there’s often a poignant recap of their past. That’s exactly what Bleach intends to do with Ukitake’s departure.
Ukitake’s sad end was foreshadowed in both the opening and closing themes. In the opening, there’s a quick scene that shows the hand of the Soul King, which then transitions to Ukitake’s eyes, followed by him being restrained by something. On the other hand, the ending portrays him from behind as he gets ready for his sacrifice.
