Activision Brings Back Popular Character For Black Ops 6 Marketing, And He Pretends To Be The Pope

As a gamer with a rich history of gaming experiences spanning over two decades, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia upon seeing the return of The Replacer in Activision’s marketing campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This character has been a staple in their promotional strategy since 2013, and it’s always a treat to see him pop up again.

In about three weeks, on October 25, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released, and Activision is increasing its promotional efforts. Starting today, September 29, they’ve launched a fresh campaign that reintroduces the character The Replacer, portrayed by Peter Stormare. For those who might be late to the news, the ads’ premise is that The Replacer stands in for individuals who skipped work to play Call of Duty instead.

2013 saw the introduction of Stormare’s character, The Replacer, and it has consistently been a key element in Activision’s advertising strategies for the Black Ops series. Today, the first commercial for Black Ops 6 featuring The Replacer was unveiled during today’s NFL television schedule.

We’re going to see more than 20 commercials in total before the game comes out, according to Activision. They hinted that some well-known figures might change during this advertising campaign, but they didn’t provide any further details.

As a gamer, I’ve got to say, the latest twist in this game is nothing short of mind-blowing! It’s like The Replacer has stepped into the real world, standing in for a firefighter rescuing a cat from a tree, a rideshare driver, and even a family man during dinner, all while engaging in a heated conversation with his wife. It turns out the Pope is a gamer too, as The Replacer temporarily takes over his duties!

This year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 goes live on October 25th. Unlike previous years, there won’t be an early campaign access. In a significant shift, the game will debut on Game Pass, however, it will only be accessible for the premium tiers of the service at launch.
